well, one of my friends owns a performance shop in the city. ive been keeping my car there for a few months. well, i was getting ready to move it up to my uncles house for storage until i could work on it.

well, i left it outside of the gate, because ive been meaning to borrow a tow truck from another one of my buddies to transport it upstate. well, low and behold, 3 days is enough for a car with no plates to get STOLEN!! ive called the NYPD, and the car wasnt impounded. [ i checked even though it was on a private lot]

the car wasnt insured, so its gone. it just pisses me off how people have no respect for other peoples property.

well, this isnt gonna shoot my plans down. if any one has a 94-95 J30 with a straight body and mechanical problems/failing motor or transmission that they would like to get rid of in a few months, ill be open for offers.

like a month or two. i dont want one in perfect condition. i would prefer it didnt run, with a good body/ interior [save for the usual wear on the seats and door panels]

2K or so. i wasnt all that happy with my last color combo either. i would like a dark color and a dark interior.

too heavy. the car was originally intended for a motor swap. [RB, 5 Speed]

after all the work, i figure i could get the j down to 3300-3400 lbs.

if i were to get a q, i dont think i would want to tear it apart.

I don't think I would say the Q is a much better car than the J. I think they are both good cars.

As for buying another J Ivory, the reason I asked is I am thinking of selling mine and getting an M45. Haven't decided. My J, however, is in excellent shape inside and out and is garaged kept and runs like a dream. I couldn't sell it for $2K though.

Anyway, good luck in your search. I hope you find one. I hated to hear your other one was stolen. I agree that there are to many lazy a$$ people out there who would rather steal peoples stuff than work an honest days time and earn something.

It is a shame you can't shoot people like that. Oh well, have a nice day.

yeah, tell me about it. im pissed about it, but not as much as i could be.

the car has some body damage and the interior needed some work. i didnt pay much for it, and the Ivory pearl over the beige interior was starting to get to me. if i didnt get such a good deal, i would have never bought it with that interior color.

i loved the way the ivory pearl quartz paint looked, but i have never been one for light color interiors. the J doesnt come with a dark interior and ivory paint to the best of my knowlege, so i might be stuck with a darker color.

most people who have J's have taken very good care of them. i wouldnt want to get one in excellant condition, just to tear it down.

OK Much better is a little strong. Sorry if I offended any J owners. It's just that I got one as a loaner the first service that I ever did to the car and it didn't feel as solid and powerful as my Q. I've had J30s, G20s, I30s and a Ford Focus(yes a Focus) as loaners, non has compared to the Q. I hope I get a G35 next time.

By the way Ivory, sorry to hear about your delema. I sure hope you find a J that will meet your needs.

it just sucks that had i not procrastinated and moved it two days ago, it would have been there still.

they took two cars, my J and my friends 1st gen RX7 with a small block chevy motor.

thats still no excuse for stealing someones car. the RX7 had some nice ROH wheels on it.

i was hoping to have the car swapped and running by the middle or end of summer. this trashes my whole plan. im more pissed about not being able to work on the car than the fact that its gone.

Well, I'll bite. Why no insurance? I assume you weren't driving it and didn't care about the potential for any loss.

You won't find a pearl white with black interior. I would look into a silver on black. That was my second choice as far as color combo. I love black on black, but it's so hard to keep it looking clean here in Chicago. The second I clean it, it gets dirty. The darker interiors wear much better than the lighter. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you on autotrader or ebay. I'm always looking at what's out there.

for the new one, my choices would be

1- silver over gray2- silver over black3- black over black

i love the ivory pearl, but the beige interior has always rubbed me the wrong way.

if you guys can be on the lookout for one of those color combos with major mechanical problems, i would greatly appreciate it. im more mad that my project is on hold than i am about the car being gone. im just glad that i hadnt driven it enough to develop feelings for it.

i do have to give the J that, the AC was DAMN COLD!!

my 2nd gen acura legend was charcoal over black. that was real nice. i gave up on the legend because of lack of underhood space and FWD. massive understeer gets old real quick. around town and "normal" driving, it handled very well, but when you push it, it just never turned in right. thats where the J has it beat, handling.

if i can find a silver/black or a black/black, ill be happy.

it just sucks that everyone take good care of the J's. i dont want a 5k car just to rip the motor and transmission out.

Get a $5K J and drive the crap out of it. The transmission will give up the ghost in a year or two without maintenance and you can sell the still pristine engine on EBay. Just a thought.

Love my J!

That, my friends, is known as a non sequitor; i.e. - the antecedent fact is not neccesarily a consequence of the precedent condition.

If it were true, then it would also be true that owners took even better care of their LS400/430 since they are even more expensive than the Q45 and J30 models.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

i saw that one yesterday. i wanna move away from the light colored interiors, though. all of the gray/black interior J's ive seen have had the interior hold up much better than the beige.

if i cant find a silver/black Jt, ill settle for another ivory/beige.

the car was a project, not my daily driver, so im in no rush. i wanna try and find one that im happy with, and not just snatch it up because i like the price like i did with the last one.

i would prefer to find it bad engine or bad transmission, because 100$ of diesel in the flat bed will save me a thousand or two.

I have to say, this is the first thread I've ever read where people are lamenting the fact that we take care of our J's!

I cant really find a valid explanation for why the J has a higher resale value. But I have to agree that used examples seem to be better cared for. Cant really find a valid explanation for that either.

Maybe, unlike the Q, the J didnt have the burden of carrying the Infiniti brand, which was (compared to Lexus) weak throughout the 90s.

Any marketing majors wanna chime in?

Since you asked, (marketing majors) here's my theory:

The Infiniti nameplate was weak through the 90's as you stated, but the J30's, because of their styling, attracted a "niche" market that bought the car because of the styling, regardless of the brand.

So they're all underpriced, but the J30's held up a little better because of the added desirability of the styling.

Actually, I think I just said the same thing that you did, just with a little more "jargon."

too bad nissan never made a Q45 coupe.

that would be awesome, the Q's styling, just slightly raked, and shortened, with a smaller backseat.
