Well unfortunately today somebody decided to redecorate my car with their key (or sharp object). It happened while I was at work. People suck, plain and simple. Anyways, I'm thinking of getting the whole car repainted (it's pretty ****ed) and I'm curious as to what colors the J30 came off the assembly line in. I've only seen black, white, and gold around here, and I've seen a few other colors on car domain, like red. Personally I like mine as it is now, black on black. But I was thinking of mabey a midnight blue, a real dark blue. Just curious...

Oh, and If I find out who did this to my car, I'm going to carve "J30" into their forehead as a reminder to what they did. And possibly roll them up ina carpet and throw them off a bridge, depends on how I feel.

If you're really thinking about having the color changed when you get this fixed, I'd recommend the silver/grey. I think this combined with the black leather interior is very nice. You can find some on ebay, or check Jeff Williams Q45 for this NICE color combo.

before you decide to change color you HAVE TO make sure you get it painted at a decent shop and not just one of the cheap paintjobs for 500 bucks if youre changing the color. I did this with my black J and when the silver was on it looked sorta silver/blue without any shine to it at all. Id say stick with black as that is the best looking color when it is clean without swirl marks and scratches. Just make sure to take care of the paint from the start and itll be nice.

Oh yea...I had my J repainted black and now it is much better than the silver ever looked.

i agree after having silver....it has no shine or depth to the paint...but it is a lot easier to keep clean.

I vote for Bordeaux Pearl as that's the color I had. It would look clean for a while even being a dark color.

Personally Id stick with the original color or something close to it.... Getting a color change from black to silver is quite drastic, and would cost a lot of money.... Pay the extra money for really good prep......

I had a silver J before my black and youre crazy if you think there was no depth to the silver. I would venture to say Infiniti have some of the best paint jobs on the road. I liked my silver J, better than the black I have now. Though my new J has grown on me tremendously since I put new wheels on her.

i say there is no depth in silver compared to black....black is a much more reflective and deep color compared to any silver out there.

Black is not reflective, its absorbant, thus the depth + the clear coat reflectivity. Silver reflects most of the spectrum and absorbs some of the light at the end + the clear coat reflectivty = more shine to silver + some depth, more depth to black + some reflectivity.

I must admit, my silver finish was perfect and the car cosmetically perfect, while my black J has some paint imperfections (scratches that need to be wetsanded, and compounded and buffed, swirl marks...) and hail damage that I haven't been able to take care of yet. Maybe once the finish is cleaned up I will change my opinion. I'll keep you posted.
