Well i am waiting on the struts for my 1994 J30t and decided to start the car....and the engine works wonderfully...but then all the other electronics seemed to have died. The lights, horn, windows, radio, A/C seems to be dead? i was wondering if this is a symptom of a bad fuse box or, (I hope not), a symptom of bad wiring/computers

Is the alternator going bad? Check the charge voltage at the battery posts with the engine running. It should be at about 14v.

Are there any warning lights on?

Test your battery also. It should be in the 9.5 to 10 volt range.

The battery is brand new,as in it was bought especially for that car . It has enough cranking amps to start the engine (800 cranking amps, 12 volts). When the electronics were working that was the same voltage/cranking combo i used It might be the Alternator or the fuses, i will have them both checked out and let you know what's what.

PS it hasn't been used in about 6 months though because the electronics were going insane when the Engine was off, then it stopped and was going fine, now they just wont work.

I had the same problem, ongoing for two years or more. Checked alternator, starter, fuses, etc, etc, etc......Replaced battery 4 times because it kept going bad. Took "Pearl" to several mechanics who could not solve problem. Finally found a REAL MECHANIC with an inquisitive and creative spirit that was intrigued by the issue this past Monday (11/29/10). He solved the problem in less than 4 hours! CHECK YOUR TRUNK LIGHT. Mine was staying on when the trunk was closed almost of the time. Mike put a camera in the trunk to see if this could be the problem. I guess luggage had pushed the trunk light switch out of line on some occasion and brought on all of this aggravation. Mike is a true mechanic and a real blessing. I've driven "Pearl" to work the past two days!
