So not trying to get flammed, just wanting more info if anybody has any. So any ways a guy on a z32 fb page, maybe you guys have seen it as well, but he just pulled the ECU off a J30 auto, plugged it into his Z, he says that the VTC has been lowered to 2,900 rpm, and the rev limit has been raised to 7,500 as well as a more power. Is it stock? Aftermarket? Is all this just bs? idk just curious on more info as if it legit, it may be worth while to find one. Any thoughts?

Well, the J30 was a bigger car, and my friend's did seem to have a bit more torque down low, so it's possible the VTC was lowered. Not sure about the rev limiter though. Seems plausible. Maybe pop in the J30 forum and ask what their redline is and when VTC engages.

However, this pic shows the redline on the cluster of a J30 at 7k, just like ours. He might have a chipped ECU on his hands. Tell him to bust it open and see if it's socketed or has a sticker on the chip.

I saw this post too. Quite curious if it makes sense.

I mean, I could see the VTC being lower, but other than that, the J30 has the same redline as the Z32.

The J30 guys are just as confused as we are....I call BS!!!! Except on the VTC thing, that may be possible.

So after doing some research, there are close to no major aftermarket mods for the J30, no aftermarket shocks or springs, little to no exhaust and 1 or 2 intakes. Stillen used to make an ECU for the 90-92's but if was a higher priced JWT version but did the same thing. Everything has to be done custom. So as I stated....I call BS. No one has confirmed or denied the VTC rpm.
