J30 Driver's Side Door Stuck

Another day, another issue....

My dad's J30 driver's side door is stuck closed. The problem is intermittent, so we've been able to lube the heck out of the door latch mechanism, but the problem persists.

A few notes:

1) The door appears to be slightly misaligned relative to the rear door.2) My dad got it open once with WD-40, but we can't get it open this time.3) My dad got it open once with heat, thinking there was water/humidity in there, but can't get it open this time.

I had that happen to my 93 and ended up taking it to the dealership. They got it open fairly cheaply and replaced something. I think it was the lock mechanism. Anyways, I don't really know what they did, but they fixed it pretty quickly.

at around the 10 year mark, it seems the locking mechanisms on J's become possesed.

i had a similar problem with my 93, but it was the passenger door. i ordered a new latch, took it to a shop and had them break the latch open and replace it with the new. in the process of trying to break the latch without obviously opening the door, they broke my window. but i didnt mind at the time, just glad my girlfriend didnt have to climb over my seat anymore GL

Interesting.... got the driver's side locking mechanism AND the latch? If so, and if we can get it open (it's stuck again), then I'd be interested.
