Hey guys I know that my door lock timer needs to be replaced but theres just one slight problem...

I read from carlos that you can get one for 60.00 from TJ; What is TJ?I called IOS and they want 120 for it.. Is there somewhere i can get it cheaper from? I read about people paying a lot less than that for them but it seems like they dont mention where they got it from.

Perhaps a nissan one works? anyone know the part number ect, or just where i can get this thing cheaper from?

Not sure about TJ, but keep in mind Carlos bought that back before Infiniti raised the pricing structure.

no need to replace the timer. you just need to re-touch the soldier joints in the timmer unit. the problem is VERY COMMOM with j30 and q45.

As long as you have a steady hand and a small soldering iron it won't be too tough. The solder joints are very tiny, and you have to be careful not to flow any of them together. That's where the small tipped iron and a steady hand come in handy.

1) Where is the lock timer located?2) Is there a lock timer for each door or is there one for all of them?

TIA

The timer is located near the back of the ebrake pedal is a grey box with one black and one white conectors. There is a silver mount with one screw although that one screw with the dash in is difficult to get to. The good news is the timer will come off without removing the mount.

Yo Alex,

You still doing that? I see this was posted a long time ago. Soldering is fun. Find some old throw-away electronic to practice on and after an hour or so, you'll be a champ at it.

Thanks for the reply, brother jspout. I am sitting here on a vessel in Galveston but on 3/3 when I fly back to NYC where my car is at the moment, first thing I gotta do is climb under there and pull that unit to see if it is the cause of my problems.

Thanks again. you guys are cool.

My passenger side door won't even open on my J. It's like the lock is jammed. A shop tried to tell me it was the actuator but I'm not buying that.

Just tried to find the lock timer on that page and couldn't any tips?

Also my door lock timer ends on 74 and has a yellow label. Is this one of the bad ones? I have looked at all the solder points and they look fine.

I happened to run into a later model unit part pull (off a '96) on eBay: $7.99 delivered (yeah, it was luck).

Part number to look for is : 28451-C9977 I believe that is the latest generation they made for the J's. Works perfect now in mine....
