I'm sure this has been covered more then i can imagine but for some reason i cant get search to work for me. I have a great opportunity to get a j30 diff for 100. and i have a couple questions. BTW its a 6 flange. IDK what that means to be honest I'm still pretty new to 240. now will that diff bolt right into my 1990 hatch SOHC? what else is needed if anything? and whats so good about the upgrade?

i have a 1996 J30 rear-end in my car, bolts right in a s14 no mods at all, i think you have to swap back covers to put it in a s13

i have a 90 hatch too and i installed my lsd in two hours...did it in december and have had no problems at all... you have to swap the rear plate, (good time to change the diff oil...i did)... bang the rubber mounts near the front out with a hammer... if you dont do this 1, your bolts wont be long enough and 2, it will allow the diff to shift slightly, which can be dangerous to the rear plate mounted solidly (aluminum too) which will crack... put some quicksteel in the holes of which the mounts came out of or any kind of spacer to keep the housing of the diff from moving... then bolt it up there and go have fun with it! i definitely have!

oh, youll need the widest washers you can get for your front mounts(i found 1.5 inch ones at home depot and jacked em lol saved a dollar... and the upgrade is worth it if you drift because now both your tires are powered now instead of just one with an open diff... go for it!!
