Can I leave these bushings in tact?

Or should I take them off and hack off these nipples?

yes, you need those, if you dont it'll sqeak and rattle. you also need some large washers and longer bolts. make sure you get the good stuff and not the cheapest bolts and washer you can get your hands on. its the same as installing a NA 300zx diff which i have done. is it 6-bolt or 5-bolt axles? if 5-bolt, did you get the axles with it? cause you need them too. and remember your speedo will be off. youll be going faster than it says, j30's are geared taller.

It's a 6bolt.

So, I put the washers after the bushing or before? How thick should they be?

They aren't geared much taller right?

Only on the top right?

Do you have the bushings?

It looks as if I don't have any gaps because of the bushings.

Or should I just squish the bushings down?

um you do wanna put washers on the top and bottom. you want to make it as solid as possible, as so that the bushings dont get torn and the diff fall out which would just suck. basicly you want the iron ears to suport the diff not the bushings. its geared 3.96:1 vs the stock gear is 4.08:1, so your speedo will be off just a few but to some cops its enough. if your pieced together drive shaft works thatll be awsome, just remember to get it rebalenced.

I picked up some bushings, but I'm gonna have a tough time making them work. One of the bushings (thicker bushing) is rather stiff and gonna be hard to even use one of the washers with, let alone two.

Just torque it down though huh?

only use the number of washers you need to fill the gap. if it only takes one then thats fine. just make sure the bushings are being held good and snug.

then your all good. thats the only point of the washers is to fill the gap left from the stock bushings. what bushings did you get?

Just the bushings that came with the diff. I didn't pull the diff myself, so I don't know if they are original or not, but they do fill the gap.... "short and fat, but it fills the gap". Celtic Pride anyone? lol

as long as there is no part of the metal tube in the center that is sitting higher than the bushings then you'll be just fine.

eh, 59cents X 4 for the washers to squish the bushings to create the feel of a solid mount or... 89 bucks. I'm going the cheap route on this one. Thanks though.
