I am in the process of restoring my '94 J30t that I recently bought (1 month ago and loving it) Does anyone have any advice on how to replace the chrome trim around the windows? The car was broken into prior to my owning it and the chrome around the back passenger side window is damaged. It's not bad but I want to see this car pristine. I also noticed the chrome trim elsewhere is showing some wear. Any advice?

Try searching auto recyclers and junkyards in your area or check Ebay (they have them every once in awhile) or if there is a re-chroming/electroplating business out where you live, they maybe able to help you.

I've already found another J30 at a salvage yard with the chrome still intact. Is it easy enough to take off and put back on myself without ever having done it before? Are there manuals for this sort of thing? Am I better off going to a body shop? Thanks.

I have a somewhat similar problem to solve. I want to repaint the black trim around the windshield on my J. However, the base of the trim looks chrome. Can I get a flat black paint to stick to this kind of finish?

sand it with a 600 grit sandpaper before you paint it or it will peel in no time.

I actually just had it replaced with a new windshield - just cracked. No apparent reason for the crack either.

Now I'm interesed in just painted the rear trim. It is faded, but not warped or chipped. I'm afraid that normal paint will get absorbed by the dry surface and not shine or feel smooth. Is there a work around for this?
