So I'm changing the oil this morning (notice it's a little low) and hear something drop into the oil pan. Come to find out the check ball behind the oil filter popped out, so I tapped it back in. It apparently regulates pressure to the sending unit. Now after doing some research (yes I searched) I find out that most vehicles don't have a part like this, and my mechanic is having trouble even finding a part # for it. I think I will need a new part so I thought I'd post here before calling Infiniti. Thanx kindly for reading.

Doesn't sound right... but I don't have any J30 experience. Are you sure it's not something out of your old oil filter? Are you using OEM filters?

No it's not from the oil filter, the whole check ball piece is odd and as far as I can tell, unique to the vg30, I posted a thread with the same question on the vg30 forum. Maybe I'll also try over on the 300zx one. Thanx for looking.

I glanced around on this site and didn't see anything, but it is a great resource for J30 owners. You might check it out if you haven't already...
