I'm excited to find this site! I searched here and everywhere and I'm ready to humbly asked for help. I bought my 1993 J30 w/ 155k for $3800 and loving it. Only problem the previous owner had was w/ power antenna, but I picked up my stations fine so not an issue for me. The problem I'm having is this....When I was getting new tires during the first snow storm, I asked the mechanic, by the way, change out the cig lighter fuse so I can charge my cell phone. (It went a few months earlier.) When leaving the shop, he muttered something about no guarantees on electrical, but I didn't think about it because the lighter (aka phone charger) worked ok for a day. Then it and my Bose stereo system went out (green CD light stays on though). I looked at the fuse box under the hood, as shown in owner's manual, didn't see stereo fuse marked, then was intimidated by the electrically taped wired under the driver's side dashboard to look much further. I think the 2nd fuse box (2nd not shown in manual) is metallic and down there to the left. Is this where the cig and stereo fuses would be? Should I look here, be suspicious of all the taped wires and leave it alone, or what? I don't mind a little zap and prefer it over going back to the shop and getting hit w/ my car taken apart and a huge bill for an electrical wiring issue. I'm a lady scientist (not mechanic) but very good at following instructions and reading diagrams. Any help guys would be much appreciated (including a cutsy lady icon for future postings-smile).
