ok so i am replacing the rear deck speakers in my J but cant get a straight answer from anyone anywhere on how to d it...my question is am i going to have to rewire the back speakers from the deck since i am going aftermarket 4 ways???or can i use the same wires?...i already have an aftermarket deck so i dont know what i need to do in order to get them working properly...i was told the stock bose speakers were 2ohm so if the 4ways i got were 2 ohm would i need to change the wiring or what....also i was wondering if it was even possible to reuse the stock amps on the back speakers on the new speakers...anyways any bit of info would be greatly appreciated...-K

It should just be a direct drop, go to http://www.crutchfield.com and click on live support. They will be able to answer this question with a great amount of detail.

You can use the stock wiring as the 2 ohm part is from the speaker. If you have aftermarket headunit (requires 4 ohm) and aftermarket speakers (is 4 ohm), you will be fine using the stock speaker wires.

You're not adding an additional amp to drive the speakers? Makes for a fun project and sound soooo good when you get done.

can i use an aftermarket amp and wire it into my stock sound system so i can make it louder? Its not very loud when I blast it. I guess that means upgrading the speakers so I dont bust them right?

stock speakers already have amps built in...i do plan on adding an amp for my components but as of right now my front speakers are fine...i just need to replace my back ones....

on another note i just got 2 brankd new kicker competition tens and they hit SOOOO much harder than my single voice coils i had....before just my trunk rattled and now my whole car does...theyre moving so much air that the speaker covers on the rear deck flew off...lol...

basically im just toying around with things for the J on this car so that ill be able to know exactly whats going into my other J.....im currently looking for a non touring 93-95 J so i can do a vh45de motor swap...also going to swap the transmission and thinking about a centrifigal supercharger...my buddy who will be helping me with the swap has already completed the swap into a Z32 and when i saw and heard that i knew it was what i wanted for the J....im going to have the interior reupholstered as well...then im going to take the 30 off my trunk and relplace it with a 45....

how bout them apples....a J45...now that WOULD be sick...lol

Doesn't have the same ring to it as J30 or Q45.

But I think it will gain popularity if done right.

sounds like the amps are flaking out Nala. Before my head unit went out I could crank it full blast and it was perfect.Especially after I put the spanking new 6X9's in the rear.

ya, its from all the bass. Im going to get subs for xmas and that should clear things up. Im looking for one of those bass bundle packages, any suggestions. Preferably 2 10" subs in a box. Ported, sealed, what works best with the J's trunk?

later when i get a chance ill take a picture of what i have in my trunk right now...unfortunately i have no trunk space due to the size of the box but its a custom ported box and sounds incredible....as far as your J is concerned since youre planning on getting subs anyways you might as well replace your back speakers...i know @ best buy you can get a good pair of 3-way 6x9s for around $35....

That's why my setup is great. That 10" bazooka sounds nice and puts out way more bass than you would expect plus I get to keep most of my trunk space.

If you want the head turning bass, you want a sealed box.

IMO i would go with a dual voice coil 2ohm sub...either ten or twelve...and @ least an 800w amp....

right now im running 2 dual voice coil kicker CVR 10s @ 2 ohm off a 1000w monoblock alpine

this including a box is all under $500, and thats my budget for now. For this price is it good? Its not going to win any competitions, but it will be headturning and nice right?

If you're on a budget, start looking for used stuff. It's everywhere and CHEAP.

i might not call it "headturning" but we may have 2 different definitions of that...i agree with scott though...why not try craigslist...you'd be suprised what kindve deals you can find on there...the other day before i got my tens i was looking @ 2 12's in a box w/760w amp for $400...all in all it really depends on what you want...where do you want it to sound better?inside or outside the car?

I know this is here and you are there and shipping would kill this deal but just to show you, these deals are out there. And this WOULD be considered head turning bass (If it would fit in the trunk):

The Bose stereo & speakers wasn't meant for heart-dropping bass; it was meant to give more of a concert feel to your music. Classical orchestra music, I might add.

Since you added an aftermarket stereo (yes, I looked on your CarDomain page), you'll have to get aftermarket speakers as well. The headunit you have puts out a different sound signal & has different settings than your old Bose had. Trust me...aftermarket head unit+stock speakers=bad combo.

Now if it were the reverse (stock stereo & aftermarket speakers), then it would be different. Believe it or not, different stereos are designed for different types of music, even though they may have similar bass & treble settings.

& your J is a '93 & the speakers are brand new???

IMO, you might as well. Don't forget the Dynamat. Keeps the rattle away & your J won't sound like it's constipated. Trust me, I've heard one for myself & it was AWFUL.
