i have seacrched the fourms and cannot find anything that quite fits my problem so im posting a new thread.

i got a problem, after attempting to install an aftermarket sound system in my j30, (headunit, amp, sub,) i locked my doors to find that my keyless entry would not work to unlock/dissarm the alarm system it had prior to this, also i found that my key would not unlock any of the doors/trunk lid and it had in the past..., i had a locksmith come out and unlock my car. at which point the alarm system started going off. i was able to get the system to stop my disconnecting the battery and having all the doors closed, but now every time i open a door the alarm goes off and the engine will not start, i tried starting the car by reaching into the drivers side door without opening the door and the engine still will not start, i have tried just about everything i can think of, i have check all the fuses ( under the hood, and on the drivers side) i cannot find a blown fuse anywhere, also i have tried reprogramming the key fob but the alarm goes off when i open the trunk. i also have replaced the battery in the key fob still no luck....any help would be greatly appreciated.....im at a total lose short of towing the car to the dealership..

You're saying your key physically wouldn't work to unlock the doors or trunk? Did you do this audio work yourself, or have an installer do it?

Did the key work on the car before?

There is nothing that can stop you from opening the doors or trunk with the correct key. Sure the alarm will go off but unless its attached to a train horn it won't really scare thieves.

The #13 fuse according to the service manual is a 7.5 AMP. That controls a lot of things that you are having problems with. And then it goes to a 75 AMP fuse, then on to the 100 AMP fuse then the battery.

So make sure ALL fuses work.

I agree with Paul... all of the electrical issues seem likely if something happened during your installation - and I can even see the door locks getting a continuous pulse from the door lock actuator and resisting the key - but not the trunk.

Yes the master key had worked in the past, i have the org. infinti key and i have 3 copies none of which i can get working, now i havent used the key to unlock/lock the doors in a while because the key fob had always worked before. so there nothing electical that controls the key cylinders? the fuse that ur taking about is that under the hood or on the drivers floor board?

The FSM (factory service manual) may help you out a lot... you can download it at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

Glad we could help. Does your key now work in the door and trunk locks?

I wouldn't I celebrate yet because a fuse did blow and if it blows again your going to have to find the cause. Hate to be the "bear of bad news" but I have had TWO electrical problems with my car.

But congratulations on fixing the problem.

Man I can't wait to have OEM J30 key less entry on my car.

Well make sure you have the correct key for your car and try spraying WD-40 in the locks and see what that yields.
