I've had my 97 J30 several months now and love it. I have a question though, about the air vent system. The whole air/heat setup is different than any car that I've ever had. The question is how can I vent outside air into the passenger compartment and be sure that the air conditioning isn't on? The car didn't come with the owners manual, although I have one in a pdf format.

Thanks Very Much, and I'll probably have a few more silly questions to ask in the future.

Len

You can press ECON, that turns off the AC...

Another little trick I learned (didnt mention this in the owners manual either).... turn the whole thing off (the AC control thing) and then press one of the vent buttons (like middle, lower-middle, etc) and it will open that vent with no fan.....

What I do in my J30 is to simply press one of the vent buttons. It will open the vent without the fan. I've noticed that if I do that and tilt the sunroof open, a lot of air comes through the vent.

If you want cool air, make sure that you turn the AC on just long enough to turn the temperature knob down. Then turn the AC off, and press one the vent buttons.

In other words, if the last time you drove, you had the heater on (let's say 73-74 degrees). If you hit the vent button without first turning the temp down, warm air will come out of the vents.
