Actually everyone's welcome to answer, but it's been so quiet for the J30 owners lately, I'm extending a special invitation. :-)
My 93 J30 is due for its 90K mile service - actually a bit overdue - I'm at 97K. The service manager said that this service includes replacing all the fluids, but not the sparkplugs, as they are replaced every 60K.
The previous owners didn't seem to drive the car much in the years preceding my acquisition. They only drove it 10K miles in the 3 1/2 years before I bought it. They also stopped having it serviced at the dealer in 2000, so my records stopped at that point. They told me they had the oil changed regularly, but I don't think they did much more than that. (I have since replaced the timing belt, radiator, and other parts.)
Here's my question. As I understand it, the sparkplugs are only replaced every 60K miles. But the 60K mile service was done in 1997! Not that I'm interested in spending more than I need to, but I'm trying to be pro-active. Since it's been so long since a major service was done on the car, should I replace the spark plugs anyway? Is there anything else I should pay special attention to because of the time that has passed between major services?
Thanks!
