I just picked up a '97 J30. I have a couple questions: 1. Stereo/cd player barely works. I've read here and other places how they go out. I'll probably go with a new receiver and speakers from Crutchfield. Looks like I'll need to rewire for the speakers. How hard is it to replace the existing factory wiring? And what is the consensus on the best aftermarket head unit to use.

2. The windows either don't work or are very slow. I can replace window motors. A couple of them are very slow even though they do work. Is it common to just replace the regulators when I do the motors?

3. The ABS light on the dash stays on. What causes this and will the standard OBD2 readout from Autozone tell me what I need to repair it?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Also, what wheels will interchange on it? It has some aftermarket wheels and low profile tires on it. I would just as soon have some factory wheels on it.

I have a set of OEM wheels I've been meaning to sell. They came off my 97 J30. I have pictures somewhere around here as intended to list them on ebay. They are scratched up some but o/w in fine condition. let me know if intersted, I'll try to find the pictures.

Will trade these rims and wheels outright for OEM wheels with tires. These are in good shape, they're just dirty from all of our bad weather of late. Tires are almost new.

I had my factory stereo and speakers rebuilt by a guy who repairs them for the local Inifiniti and Nissan dealers. Came out pretty good price wise. Now I just have to install them and see how it sounds.

for your windows it could be just your window motors dieing thats what happened to mine. regulators usually wont go its normally the motor. the gear for the motor that moves the window up and down is rubber and breaks due to age. may just need new motors i think. if i remember its about 30 to 40 bucks each.

Hey guys,

I might be in the market for a clean set of stock (OEM) J30 (not the J30T) wheels if the price is right. Mine are badly oxidized from road salt over the years.

I live up in Maine and will be driving down from Long Island, NY to Galveston during the 2nd week of March ('10). I may have time to stop and see what you've got if you're on the way.

During the middle of April, '10, I will also be doing a road trip from Galveston, TX to San Diego, CA, with a run up the "left" coast to the San Francisco Bay area.

Why don't you just have yours repainted?

Ahhh, I actually attempted sandblasting them and shooting them with a clear and in fact partially succeeded in removing much of the serious pitting of the finish.

Unfortunately, in doing so, I've lost that very nice machined look of the originals. So, now they look like gray wheels.
