i have replaced the rear drivers side strut assembly and spring , it doesn't bounce up and down anymore but it does sway side to side on bumps( like roger rabbits girl friend when she walks)and it scares me a little at high speeds i won't drive it pass 90mph- is there a sway bar or some kind of swaying mechanism that may be damaged it was rammed on the drivers side rear quarter i put that back together. but the wobbling is all i have a problem with from the rear of the vehicle--or is the wobbling normal since its a rather lite in the rear anyway weight wise?

im not a j owner but i do know that the rear of the car is very round. kinda simaller to an audi quattro tt. well the first year the quattro tt was produced there were a number of crashes on the auto bahn because of the shape of the rear end. it produced no downforce and allowed teh rear of the car to become unstable at high speeds and caused wrecks. latter years had a spoiler to keep it planted. if its only at high speeds this could be the reason. althogh im doubting that. look underneith for dammage compare left and right sides of the sway bar and look for any weird bends or even if the mounts are worn. and make sure the sides are the same lengths, geometry and b sure everything is tight, besides that all i can suggest is take it to a garage to have them put it up so u can see wtf going on under there. good luck. and get it fixed before it gets outta hand and u got to fix it cause of an accident. cause thats gonna cost alot more on top of whatevers wrong

You've got a bad strut. Bought my 94 with the same problem. Big bumps would almost put you in the ditch. Swaped both struts from my 93 and problem solved.
