I do love a shifter upgrade. I'm in the "B&M with a heavy knob" camp and I love it, but I get that it's not for everyone too.

Not much to update but thought I would pop in.

Car is running great, I'll probably change out the shift knob for a larger one, it still feels a bit awkward.

Alternator died. Over-voltage. From what I hear, kind of rare for the voltage regulator to die, but I think it might be the original regulator, so that's fair. Getting it rebuilt currently. Still the OEM factory unit.

Additionally, for anyone that checks in on this thread for CA18 specific knowledge, or rather any car knowledge,
Go to the Nico FSM link: https://www.nicoclub.com/nissan-service ... pecific/CA
Go to Google AI Studio and add the CA18 FSM.
Give it this prompt:
"The document attached is the FSM for a S13/240sx with a CA18DET engine. Absorb this knowledge so that you can answer any questions about this vehicle. You are an expert automotive mechanic, with rich knowledge of racing and mechanical engineering. Be prepared to answer any questions related to cars or this specific vehicle"

You can now ask it any question you want. It will give you torque specs for anything, electrical guidance (HUGE), and much more. Thank me later for this gem. That's all for now. Been busy at my job and saving up for more car parts. Check back in later!

Ok, so this actually works much better if you OCR (allow the text to be selectable) the PDF and then split it up into sections. Also the default Gemini 2.5 seems to work really well. So just use the regular Gemini website.

Additionally, I'll be giving Float new ORC FSMs for CA18 and R32, with split files per section and also the full FSM files. This should allow you guys to throw those into a Google Drive folder and then connect your Gemini. Or just simply throw all the files in a Gemini prompt. New prompt should be:

"You are an expert automotive mechanic, with rich knowledge of racing and mechanical engineering. The documents attached are the FSM for a S13/240sx with a CA18DET engine split by section. Absorb this knowledge so that you can answer any questions about this vehicle. Be prepared to answer any questions related to cars or this specific vehicle. "

Here's how absolutely awesome this is.

Just a quick update and let y'all know I'm still in it. Also, I post all of my updates on here and not on Facebook, so take that for whatever it's worth. I think this format is much better for raw information and it's easier to follow my timeline. Appreciate everyone following this journey, no matter how small my updates or how trivial my upgrades are, I hope it helps someone.

First, for the not sexy s***. I had my alternator die. Turns out that the last time I had my alternator rebuilt, they only rebuilt the entire wheel but not the overcharge module.

So I got the alternator rebuilt locally.

Then my battery died and would not hold a charge, even though I have a battery charger.

So then I replaced my battery.

Then I had my turbo coolant return line burst. This was because it was rubbing on the steering rack. So I also replaced that, but I just bought the steel braided line and put the old fittings on the new line.

As an added bonus, I bought new tires. Federal 595 RS-RRs 225s for the rear. These things grip like CRAZY. So I had to pump up the psi to 45, cause I'm still a driftboi. But in the canyons, I still didn't find the limit when at 32 psi. Also, it's very difficult to get these tires in America because I don't think they're DOT approved.

Anyways, the tires are some of the best that I've ever driven on. I have Federal 595 RS-RRs 215s on the front and they handle very well, and I never found the limit of them because I had terrible junkyard rears. Now that I have somewhat proper rears, the car handles like a gem, but once again, I've never cared about raw handling, as I mostly drift, but it is nice to keep up with some cars in the cali canyons.

Anyways, not an exciting update, just moreso maintenance, but that's the life of a car guy. Will have more news later this year. I'm planning some big purchases and I think you guys will approve! More to come.

No real progress on the build, just thought I would share Larry Chen's car show that I went to in October. There were a lot of killer builds there. I even got to be featured in the premium spot for whatever reason. Larry just handed me a flyer and said to park up top! Had to have been because of the Nicoclub sticker :)

Awesome! Thanks for the update!

I just noticed that my notifications for NICO have been going to junkmail, so I wasn't getting notified for anything. I'll get those links you gave me update in the FAQ.
