IM TIRED OF SCREWING WIT MY SINGLECAM ENGINE... AND IM JUST GONNA START SAVING UP.. BUT I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS.. FIRST, WHAT WOULD U STRONGLY RECOMMMEND GETTING: SR20DET(REDTOP), RB25DET, OR A CA18DET...

I KNOW THE MOST COMMAN ONE IS THE SR20 BUT ITS ALSO THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE.. JUST LOOKING AT DAUNTS PLACE.. SR20DET: 2,200RB25DET: 2,150CA18DET: 1,750

WHY IS THAT.. I WOULD THINK THE SKYLINE ENGINE WOULD BE MORE? AND I ALSO HEAR THAT CA R GOOD SWAPS BECAUSE OF PRICE AND YOU CAN BUILD THEM OUT JUST AS GOOD AS AN SRSWAP.. IS THAT TRUE? ANYWAYS CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME PERSUASIVE THOUGHTS ON WHATS BETTER AND GOING TO LAST ME IN THE LONG RUN?JOE:help

I would recommend a search. You should decide which one you want by yourself. anyone will last you in the long run if taken care of.

It all depends on your plans and goal for the engine

well the CA can be built to 400hp reliably. KA guys can chime in on what that engine can do.

lets see KA is NA and CA is TURBO what other reason do you need for the CA over the KA ? and with as much money spent on mods to get the KA up to that 150 hp that they say theyhave but really dont you could have a 200+ Ca18det with a FMIC exhaust an other goodies !! ive spent only 3Gs and i have a another 240,Ca18det, tons of spare parts, a FMIC, a new turbo, ported Ca manifold, and a stage one chip... all this put togther and with some bigger injectors ans a fuel pump should put me into the 200-250hp range!!! its way cooler then the KA too,its such a cute little motor as my friends say !!! they all have this wierd thing with petting it and talking to it like a baby ?!?!? go for a motor swap !! you might regret not, and you might curse it as its happening but itll be worth the time and efforts when you gett to enjoy the machine that you just built up yourself... its somthing to be proud of somthing to tell your grandkids about !! jon

mad, my Ca tried to sufocate me today, and its going to end up leading me to beating it to death with a sledge hammer if it doesnt learn to run right!!!

ca and srs are cool, but why not go ka24de turbo. This might cost a little more but you have very little problems with parts, and this is not such a big deal but the engine is actually legal in our cars. You can get a Ka that you know how hard its been beaten or ran at all for that matter, these things you dont know about with the JDM engines. With the ka24de turbo you keep your torque and its rarer (turbo) so there for a little cooler to me. People are hitting low times with these and you can get any parts you want for them to make them turbo strong. There is also a fast growing market for performance mods for these engines at least as far as i can tell. Our ka brothers the altima are growing in popularity and there is alot of them hitting 11s now and dropping lower with there kas. I would go for the ka24det, My personal prefference is the sohc turbo ( i am looking to fully build a ka24e and try to get so i can run 11s, challenging yet great if it works)

I think your caps lock button is stuck.

I have been trying to decide as well. Every few hours I have "decided" on my set up, then I go back to someing else. Kat- a KADE can be found cheep and would be street legeal. The turbo parts are gonna cost alot.SR- all around great motor. The price tag is a serious factor preventing me from having one already. Plus you are going to have to figure out how to smog your car. I live in CA, smog is nearly impossible with more than bolt ons. CA- cool motor, good power potental. If you want to beat on it, it probablly could use a rebuild, so factor that into your price.

I personally have decided on kat 90% sure. My reasons are this: I can unbolt every thing and smog it. I will be putting together my own "kit" with all the parts to my own specs. I bought a bunch of turbo stuff for my last car before it was stolen months ago, so I am half way there. It won't be all that expensive from here on out. I autox so a responsive motor is key. The torque of the motor will spool the turbo quickly, that will be lost of fun on the streets too.

a turbo Ka would also be illegal im pretty shure ! but to each his own id rather spend the money to buy a motor that was designed to be turbod from the start and hunt parts for me isnt that big of a deal.. and the trouble with finding out how to make them run and what not thats all part of the "joys of tunning" as paul has said before~~~

mad, im going to post my problem up in Ca section again !
