Car: 91' 240sx with some babying to be given

Post

over the course of the 9 months of owning my 91' 240sx my mind has jumped from sr20det to ka24det, drift car or daily car, type x or silvia and just recently i decided to get a 240 shell and use it as a track only car(register it as a off highway vehicle) ...

but before i do that i decided that i have to fix how my 240 is running mechanically first... so to avoid any california police problems i decided to keep it naturally aspirated but bore it out 0-.020" and get sr injectors, headers, springs and valves, and ecu tune...

im not really hoping for a huge power gain but enough to notice some good pull...

the pistons i decided to get 8.8:1 and either standard size or .020" over bore... this is a dd so im dont really want to have to pay for the most expensive gas when its $3.50...

anything else i should add? what are your thoughts on this 240sx dd build outline?

the next 240 i get will be a track only car and this one will be mostly for drifting, but when my school hosts drag night or when my local track has civilian drags ill drag it...

but for the most part its for drifting

why use sr injectors your stock injectors should be just fine, theres no real reason for the extra fuel. why lower the compression ratio if your not gonna boost it? if anything id stick with stock. no need for forged pistons on stock power level.

just out of curiosity why would you register the other car if its a track car? seems like it would be money wasted.

Too heavy?I'm sure the VQ is lighter than a KA.

agreed... and its not heavy enough to be a concern, especially when you get an extra 150hp over a ka.

good luck

oh s***, i misread the page i was reading... ill probably get pistons in the 10:1 ratios... well i need new injectors anyways so i just thought why not and upgrade...

in california you have to smog any car you have, but if its a off highway vehicle you dont have to smog it when you register it

i just dont see the point in getting sr injectors just seems like more of a hassle. id love to hear a benifit if there is any. my stockers do fine and ive got a fully bolted motor.

why register it if its a track car? i just dont see a point. seems like extra money spent. i would go for a car without a title caz you can usually get them cheap. but to each their own. i dont bother registering any of my "offroad" vehicles. i like to spend my money where it counts.

if your upping the cr ratio i guess i see the point in going forged. but why just go 10:1? go all out. 11:1 but i guess you dont want to spend the extra money on gas. to each their own.

why register it as a track car, its california... if im riding around with a car on a trailer and get pulled over, the car is going to have to be in someones name and have some kind of plates to give the officers info on the owners of the car...

i decided to stick with the stock bore and CR but to install new compression rings, hone the cylinder, get new valves and springs, timing chain kit, and a gasket kit...this way ill be getting the same gas mileage, better compression, and i know my engine will be able to handle a turbo if i decide to go that route...
