You're awesome charleo.

I picked up a Marlin 39a. Made in the early 70s. Thoughts?

Yep, I'll post some pictures in here when I get a chance. It's >30 years old and still a tack driver. Gotta love Marlin!

You limp-wristing it there big fella?
there's something going on. s*** ammo or awful awful mags.

both guns come with decent feed ramps and extractors and ejectors out of the box.

but anyway...consult my posts in I think it was the Guns Guns Guns thread...I left IMO what one should look for in a first gun purchase.

CA has gay rules though.

I don't think you can own a series 70 1911 there but I can't remember for sure...it's either there or MA or both.

Bren 10's are soooo hard to find and expensive when you do.

as for the greastest 9mm ever, the Hi power is a very close second to the CZ-75.

Slightly humorous as the CZ-75 is based on the BHP.

Laser sights are cash money. They make your accuracy go up a ton. :dblthumb:

they do look similar but there's quite a few substantial differences. You can't really even call it an improved Hi Power.

pretty good list of differences here.

Good thing I wasn't calling it an improved Hi Power, then, ehh?

perhaps "influenced" would have been a better word.

probably not. About all it really shares is the method of barrel locking. Which is used by damn near all autopistols you'll encounter now save 1911's and small blowbacks.

saying that the CZ influenced a whole new genre of pistols however is a different story.

They went for retarded amounts of money back in the 70's when it was hard to get one imported...like as high as three times what the selling price should be. I still need to get a CZ-85. 500 or so bucks isn't a bad price at all on it.

The same can be said for the Glock 17,not so much the inflation of prices but the influence it had in starting a whole new wave of designs and widespread use of polymer on firearms. Definitely a big milestone in auto pistols.
