Whats up Nico Family? Hopefully no one flames me for being a scumbag salesman.  I finally got a foothold in the automotive business. My friend got me a job at Honda selling cars.It came as a shock that I got the job in the first place as I have no history in sales. Nonetheless it does feel good to actually have a job where growth can happen.(my old job was a dead end)

I was really surprised how great the sales staff are and the way they treat customers. They never push customers to buy what they don't need, as we get payed the same, whether the car is a base model civic or top of the line Odyssey. Plus I never worked for a company that is an employee owned company and offers a 401K. I was wondering if any niconauts have had great or bad experiences with salesmen or if anyone has any tips for me to better myself.

Congrats y0! I don't think I've ever heard of a dealership that doesn't give commission to their workers, or do you mean commission is the same whether it's an Accord or Civic?

Thank you! Yeah commission is the same for all models, at $200 per unit sold.I found out we are a high volume dealership so we make money by selling around 300 cars a month. But whats great is honda gives you a "spin" for each new car you sell. So on top of the $200 dollars you get anywhere from $50 to $250 from Honda. I am really excited about that. I finally have an income I can be proud of and actually have money to pay bills with money left over. The only downside is the preconceived notion that I am just a scumbag salesmen who doesn't care. The dealership lets go of any employees who don't follow up on customers and treat people disrespectfully.

Thats awesome dude! I'd actually love to be a salesman but I can't work on Saturdays, which I hear is mandatory haha. Good luck man! I think your dealership is doing a pretty good deal by paying you guys all the same commission. Its probably not as much money as you'd make with a percentage commission, but this way you guys aren't forced to trick people into buying crap they don't need.

Yeah my schedule sucks! I have friday night off but work Saturday morning. Honestly I think the dealership simplified the buying experience as we sell about 2000 dollars of sticker price and actually write out checks for people trade in cars. I actually got to test drive that new accord coupe and the cr-z. :) Now I'm just saving up for an NA miata and then my stupid smile will be permanent.

I have no real rebuttal to that so I offer you this, Your mother is an artificially created number.

It's a good job, don't mean to hate or anything, but:

lol no. I'm just saying that there is a system for artificially raising sticker price higher. For simplicity's sake, what I heard happens is they pay the manufacturer too much money and get a refund back that doesn't appear on that sticker. You didn't really think they could honestly run a business on just the small amount over they tell you about, did you?

Anyway, it really has nothing to do with you specifically, so congrats! It's a pretty chill job.
