Bah Humbug, that is all.

Seriously though, I really hate this time of year. Why can't people show each other the same love, compassion, and level of giving to the less fortunate all year long instead of just for the month and a half that this whole Christmas spirit thing is floating in the air. And everyone falls into the same hole that retailers put out there year after year, let's all go and spend more money than we have to buy gifts for people and then spend the whole year paying off that debt just to do it all over again the following year. If my sister didn't have kids I sure as hell wouldn't spend anywhere near what I spend each year, but I don't want to be a complete Scrooge and not be a good uncle and give my nieces and nephews an awesome Christmas even though I need that money to pay bills.

Again, Bah Humbug.

Even at Christmas time people are still cusing out there windows and blowing horns with middle fingers in the air for other people to move. I think people get stupider around Christmas too. This one guy just stopped right in the middle of a busy best buy parking lot with his hazards to talk on the phone. wtf. People still go 15 in a 45 too. Get the F**K out of my way a$$hole!!

That is strange though. Right after Jan 1st everybody goes right back to being d!ck once again.

All you gotta do is just stop touching yourself at night and maybe you'd have something to look forward to. ;)

People get stupid at christmas because it's cold and all the idiots who usually confine themselves to driving at other times of the day get out and drive with everyone else.
This causes havoc because grandma who doesn't drive at rush hour gets into the mix with no-experience driver chick with tons of friends in the car going shopping and speed-demon maniac in the Bimmer all at once. I could mention the 8 Mexicans all getting off work crammed into a civic too, but they really don't seem to work this time of year...

My high school Physics teacher was a JW. Some of his students snuck into his classroom the day before Christmas break and decorated his entire room. Garland, lights, wreaths and a Christmas tree. I thought he was gonna have a stroke. He was LIVID!!!

/story.

Carry on.

While true that everyone spends much cashola just for this day, you can also help bring in the true spirit by providing many games and jokes to the table and gatherings providing memories and real Christmas joy and turnind the presents you've given to people, or received, an added benefit, rather than being angry about it.

Cheer up bucko! Merry Christmas.

No, what I noticed from working in retail as long as I have, is that people get the nastiest around the holidays (November onward) and then things get back to normal in Jan.

I blame that on the amount of advertising of certain products that have a low inventory. Especially with toys and video games. As crappy of a movie Jingle All The Way was, it was surely based on fact. When people can't get that must have gift for their spoiled bratty kids they go from being jolly and happy to instantly vicious. Gotta love the human condition.

I think Krimsonviper hit the nail on the head.

I think it's too easy to blame the media, a store, or a manufacturer. There are many alternatives to just buying over-hyped fad toys, especially your if money is tight. If you enjoy spending time with your nieces/nephews, next time, why not wrap a card as a present for the kids, redeemable for a "fun day with their uncle." Offer a few choices like a day at the beach, (this summer), or perhaps an invitation to the first annual Uncle Warlord Texas death match bowling or minigolf family championship tournament (complete with $10 trophy). Take lots of pictures. Everyohe wins, the kids spend fun time with you, you spend time with them, and all will remember the great day. Plus you don't go broke. Food for thought.

Bubba and KV have it figured out. Christmas is only as fun as the people you spend it with.

I give these out to women. "Good for one entire day at Jesda's house, BYOB (bring your own bacon)"

So far, no takers.
