so, the other day i brought another toy home. my favorite type of import for the money.....crotch rocket. yamaha R6 champion edition to be exact. so, we go riding and decide to go to the state fair that is going on right now and hang out. so we (my buddy on his ninja and me) are sitting around, minding our own. we've are being total posers waiting for the girls to walk by and check us, the whole gig. "hey, nice bike" "hey, i wanna ride" and so on. so up from behind us walks this 12 year old WIGGA. he's got super baggy pants, big t shirt, skull cap beanie, some fake chain looking jewelry on him. he's throwing his hands up and out like he's in a rap video saying "there's tha shiznet i'm talking about". so anyway, he starts trying to talk the language. i am suprised i did not hear MOTEC SYSTEM EXHAUST mentioned. he told me all about his friend that had one and did all this crazy stuff, like HKS exhaust and blah blah yada yada. then he starts talking about NAAAAWWWWWWSSSSSSS. if you haven't gathered my overall opinion of the kid yet, then quit reading. so, once he starts talking about NAAWWS, and the convo went something like this.

"yeah, and he put naws on it""what's that?""i said he put naawws on it""no, i mean, what is that?"naawws""what?""you don't know what naawws is?""is it anything like nitrous oxide, b/c i know what that is""yeah, that what i mean""ok""yeah, and he put HKS exhaust on it...." and so on the idiot went

It was great, he smoked the **** out of it. All you could hear is raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa<psssssssssssssssf>raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa<pssssssssssssssf>

You gotta give him a little break man, he was 12. Not to say that excuses him from all, but you have to remember that he hasn't been with the right people. His friend is obviously older, so he's looking up to him. Let him be, he will one day learn how stupid he sounded.

I was watching Bike Week or something like that on Speed, and they had an aftermarket company turbocharge a Hayabusa...everything else stock....the driver got it up to 203 on some Honda test track.

I also saw some other special (had to be on speedvision) about some guy who set up bike races....they showed a number of bikes with nitrous...nuts.

I know nothing about bikes but that seemed pretty insane.

first of all, it was just a "how stupid people can be" not a this is funny. secondly, HKS does not make stuff for bikes, hence, the stupidity.

now, yes, nitrous on bikes is pretty common and very rewarding. and they make a turbo kits for hayabusas that put them up over 400 horsepower, no lie. a personal friend of mine has an all motor busa putting out 225 horsepower at the rear wheels. that is on about a 500 lb. chassis mind you. so imagine what 400 would do. my R6 will run low 11's on the stock 100 horses.

Damn! What are you gonna do with 400whp in a 500lb bike? Besides crash a hell of a lot faster.

stretch the swingarm, put on a racing slick, and go run some six's in the 1/4 mile....that is what you do with that much power

you oughtta drive over to the Ohio Valley speedway. It's an 1/8 strip. There's bikes there all the time with nitrous oxide. they all got the purge valves or whatever you call em for show. looks cool and like you said, they're fast enough.

YESSSS!!!! FINALLY A THREAD ON BIKES! (even though this is a car forum...) R6 is a good bike, nice powerband for a 4. Has anyone seen the f4i's? Now those things fly for a 600..my god. Quote »Damn! You would need major modifications to get a 400-500 hp bike rideable ie changing the seating so the rider is leaned way up front to distribute weight..etc. Now with my 130 hp bike i get sub 10's on the 1/4, and i can tear most motorcycles and everycar off the road, especially the twisties. No need to make improvements if it aint broken :)

wow i checked out that boss hoss, what the hell is that?! I can picture willie nelson cruisin on that thing with that paint scheme, although the 607 hp speaks a bit. What the hell did they do to that bike?! its only 500 cc and two speed transmision. It must get some base with that weight, 1300 pounds!! dayhum! Turbocharged? (knowing that K-car like the turbo bikes)

the 400 plus horse busa is a turbo bike, and they are wicked fast. my r6 is fun, but i do like the F4i better. my friend has one and i have ridden it a lot. it has a great feel to it and is a very good looking bike. some other buddies have one lowered with air shifter whoopping up on a lot of bigger bikes.

a boss hoss would not be fun to ride in the city. it weighs a lot, has a freakin car tire in the back and is heavier than your 240 (well, maybe not). you would go deaf within a month.

hayabusas have been bored, stroked, turboed and nitroused a lot. you can add 200 to 300 cc to the engines capacity and get lots of power without turbos, or do everything. extending the swingarm 6-12" with 400 hp would keep the bike from flipping over backwards, but then you can't corner worth a damn.

there's nothing magical about 200 mph, there's one company that primarily turbos bmw motorcycles and has gotten many over 200. not just new ones, i'm talking early eighties.

the boss hoss isn't 500cc, its 500ci...HUGE difference....500 cubic inches, not cubic centimeters...as in 8 liters, not 0.5 liters

607 hp, high 7's on street tires.

When you're on this bike, you're also allowed to tell Harley riders that they wear dresses and ride toys.
Ya...but you'd have to stop at every gas station that you see on the road..the gas tank isn't that big-

Sorry, but it's all about Italian beauty in this case.

DUCATI! I'm a wannabe Ducatista - my first bike comes this January when my buddy sells his Ninja Two Fiddy to me for $800. I'm going to ride that and learn what the hell I'm doing, then buy my 748R. Sex on wheels <drool>.

Other than Ducs, the best lookin' bike out there right now is the R6, and the F5 looks like it'll be a stunner. I wouldn't bother with an F4i, since the F5 comes out in less than six months, and it's a complete overhaul.

<-- Arrogant Ducatista :D

Quote »<-- Arrogant Ducatista
I dont think you really know your stuff man to be talking about whats better. You talk just about the asthetic virtues of a bike, what LOOKS better. Let me tell you, the f4i is a great bike, and the most likely will be up to par with the f5. I still see older model F series race up at my raceway, and they hang with the big boys (and often win) its all about the rider, more so than in cars... A 250 has got to be the slowest piece o sheet bike out there, in other words a GREAT starter bike. You better stay on that thing for more than a year or else you will kill yourself with a bad boy. Smaller bikes teach you proper road driving and basics.Quote »i got to ride my friends gsxr 750 today... holy sh*t that thing is fast.
any modern day bike is going to be like this, it is amazing. The problem is we go from cars to bikes, so we are accustomed to full throttle to get going, on a bike that means falling over. (well, my superhawk it does) Throttle control is one of the most important control on a bike :) That 600 hp hoss i still wouldnt be caught dead with, that rider position...color... ewww. And my hawk could TAKE it in a race. (track) ;)

I wouldn't waste my time with a ninja 250. Even just to learn on.

My gsxr 750 is my first bike. Its a 92 with a supertrapp full exhaust system (internal baffle), machined out carbs, stage 3 jets, open K&N air filters. It just got repainted and looks incredible. I also have a 520 conversion kit (aluminum gears)that is geared lower, and a 5 degree ignition advancer to put on for next season. I'll post some pics when it is all reassembled (late winter)

I would have to say I wouldn't recomend such a powerful first bike for everyone, only those with a little prior experience, and/or alot of self control.

600s seem like good beginner bikes.
You said yourself thats just you. A first time rider is the deffinition of little or no self control. A ninja 250 is an excellent first bike as it teaches you the ropes, a 750 in the hands of a begginer is like gving a shotgun to a baby; start out with the rubber band gun. :)
