After ordering my S13 Blacktop SR20DET on October 19, 2002 I will be picking up my motor tomorrow and I can't wait. My car has been on jackstands for about two months waiting. I am going to send away the harnesses to Heavy to be converted on Wednesday. I then am finishing my order for my parts like a: Greddy R-SPL FMIC, Greddy DP, Walbro FP, Permacool electric fan, intake filter, HKS SSQ BOV. I then have to save for my 3' exhaust and Boost controller. I already have the ACT six puck and install kit. I am going to remove the transmission tomorrow and then have the flywheel resurfaced. I plan on installing the motor this weekend. I am soo excited. I know this isn't a very important post but I figured that I would share in my happiness.

PS Budweizzer if you read this, I was wondering how you swap was coming along?:ylsuper

I know it probably doesn't matter, but why an R-SPL? I'm sure it's too big for your setup and it's just going to give you less performance than gaining some.

But have fun with the swap! :D

1 Problem, 1 Solution.

Forget GReddy DP.Call Wayne.Order Blitz Dp.$180Stainless Steel > Mild Steel.

:) My 2 cents.

And my swap.... well last week, I was super sick, from pretty much Sunday till Thursday, and this weekend my friend was on vacation, so I couldn't do any work, and it's windy like crazy here today, so no work was acheived this week. I really, REALLY wish I had some knowledge before I did all this before I did the swap. That way I could do the swap in my driveway and not my friends, and it would have been done months ago. Instead, I have to wait for my friends to make the time to work on it. Luckily though, it's almost ready, I'm going to take some pics of it when it's ready for wiring. I need to do the exhaust and FMIC, then that's it, just wiring, and it's running. It's taking forever, but it'll all be worth it.

BTW, congrats on getting your engine, you will take pics?

1. I will post pics if I can get my hands on a digital camera. But I may be able to scan photos, because I will take a lot of regular photos.

2. I haven't ordered the R-SPL, I do plan to upgrade the turbo to a HKS GT 3037 or t3/t4 or something like that along with injectors Z32 MAFS, ecu upgrade etc.. With that in mind would the R-SPL be too big, I mean I will save a hundred and get more performance and get the V-SPL. So S13240 or anyone else come back with opinions. I am going to order on Wednesday. I would like to stay with Greddy, but would the Blitz LM be better for my setup or what?

3. I will call Phase 2 because Heavy will match prices if Phase 2 has the parts in stock. Thanks for the heads up Buud.:thinker

PS S13240 When you say it will be too big for my setup, do you mean the way it is right now? I will be getting my exhaust very soon and then the Boost controller. If its just too big right now then thats OK, because it won't remain like that for long.

Yeah I'm just saying that the R-SPL will be too big for your current mods right now.

If you are planning to upgrade your turbo, injectors, maf, ecu, etc etc very soon after installing the sr20 into your 240 then you should stick with the R-SPL, but if you are planning to upgrade all those in a couple of years I don't think it's a good idea to be running the R-SPL...well actually what is your hp goal? Just pick the ic that will mainly meet the certain amount of hp efficiency that you'll hope to achieve at the end. I believe the Greddy V-SPL, Blitz LM, and HKS Type S fmics are capable of 400 hp...so it says on the advertisements. If you are planning to go more than 400 hp yes go with the bigger intercoolers.

I would stick with the R-SPL. I don't think that it would be too large for your application especially if you are planning on upgrading the turbo. Congrats on the engine by the way : )

the R-SPL isnt too big.....especially when your comparing it to the vspl, since they are identical in size, and its just a different fin design, and better cooling capabilities........

the rspl isnt 'too' big, in terms of pressure drop, if he sticks with the stock intercooler, his boost will be limited, if he goes with the rspl, he will be able to handle all the boost that the t25 can put out, and 'shouldnt'* have to worry about detonation. (the better safe then sorry method)I wouldnt recommend getting a small front mount intercooler unless you plan on staying stock forever, yes the rspl can handle more than you'll be dishing out, but shouldnt hurt performance a noticable amount.....but you could deal with saving some money if you are staying pretty stock and going with the vspl or the blitz or something a little cheaper

If he ever wants to upgrade he can keep the rspl and it will work fine with a turbo upgrade correct?

I will upgrade the turbo maybe in a year or year in a half. This summer I am doing a metal head gasket, rocker arm stopper, and valve springs. Also some Volk Racing wheels (haven't decided which ones). But I will upgrade the turbo in a year or so to at the least a S15 turbo. So with that in mind I will get the R-SPL. Thanks for the ideas.:D
