They would all give you very similar performance gains. The Exmag is quiet, as far as 3" exhausts go, and the N1 Dual is loud. The Exmag is much more discreet, with a black muffler and single chrome tip, while the N1 Dual hangs out like a mother and screams bling. I really like the Exmag and dislike the N1 Dual for the reasons I listed.

I have the exmag and I dont really like it too much, its not nearly as quiet as everybody says it is, it hangs down too low and scrapes everything, and I dont really like the way it looks. And the Apexi N1 dual isnt that much louder than the exmag, my friend has the apexi dual on his sr20 and I would trade him exhausts if he was up too, it sounds similar but looks alot better, and Im sure the power gain is about the same. Im actually thinking about cutting the muffler off the catback system and welding on a smaller one, or at least one that doesnt hang down so low

Id go with what 93Niss240sx said. i also bought the Apex-i GT Spec exhaust and i love it. I also beleive it is a 3" exhaust compared to most of the other 2+ inch exhausts

I'm currently running the Apex N1 Single Turbo Catback + silencer. And that thing is just flashy as hell. Is it noisy? Without the silencer it's REALLY loud. With the silencer, it's "droney".

I will be swapping in the RSR Exmag very soon. I'll post here again to give a before and after impression.

The droning is the worst. I've only heard the GT spec in videos, and it doesn't seem to drone at all. That would be my pick. I don't like the N1 dual because I think it looks a little too "blingy." And I think the Exmag looks good.

actually the others are a little bit more than 3 inches, the gt spec is almost 4 inches. the gt spec is specifically made for turbo apps, thats why its so big. also because apexi is showing off their 95mm mandrel bender. this is all what someone told me when i had a question about it a while back. im n/a right now but im going turbo and want to have the exhaust for it when i do. have you looked into blitz nur spec? im between either that or the ex mag.

Which exhaust do you think flows better? At first i was thinking the apexi dual did,But now im thinking the exmag does,Because it doesnt have the resanator that the apexi does. But then the exmag has alot more bends in the piping. Is the exmag muffler stright throught or is it one of those chamber type mufflers?

I've never scraped my muffler. I would assume it mostly depends on how low your car is. Make no mistake, it is still a strait through 3 inch exhaust, so its not like you cant hear it. Its definatly quiter than a ton of turbo cars with 3inch exhausts I have heard.

I've actually been thinking of cutting off the tip since the pipe from the muffler extends all the way to the end of the tip anyways. I think it would look pretty sleeper.

well i think the gt spec if you go to their website is very straight and very large, specifically for high horsepower applications, so it should flow very well, but as stated its also going to be very loud, but if thats not a problem yes id say it would flow better

as far as between the dual n1, and the exmag, again if volume isnt a problem you dont have to worry about the dual n1, but once you put the silencer in that limits flow a lot more than you'd want, so again depends on really what your looking for.

J-Spec did you notice any loss or gain in power between the N1 dual and the exmag?

my guess would be it would probably be little enough that it would be hard to tell without a dyno, the overall feel will be about the same, but then again as i said as far as the feel im in the same boat as you

i have the gt spec on my s14 with s13 sr and have been very happy nice deep tone not too loud but not too quiet doesnt drone real bad on the highway with no backseat or trunk insulation perfect for me strangely the exhaust note didnt change from stock ka to sr20 to sr with no cat and 15 psi just got faster not louder only problem is that the resonator is huge compared to most aftermarket exhausts that ive seen it looks like a small muffler and it hits on everything put more than one dent in it but my car is lowered like three inches have only seen one car that sits lower than mine and he scrapes his crossmember on speedbumps

Same thought too! The polished metal is the only thing that tips off cops that you're running an aftermarket catback. I was thinking of going for the BBQ-Paint approach instead----just because the thought of cutting a piece off of a $530 exhaust is very disturbing.

Make a post if you do decide to cut off the tip, and let us know if the sound actually changes.

could you post some links to these videos, I have the gt spec on my car, but my motor isn't done yet, I'm curious what its going to sound like with the stock turbo.

I have the RS-R exmag gtII (the non 'street' exhaust that rs r makes), AND the dual N1.

I can sway without a doubt that the RS-R is WAY too loud, unless you run a silencer and who in their right mind wants to do that? It is certainly a gorgeous peice, but not worth it at all.

I just picked up the N1 dual and I can say I am very pleased, and would definitely recommend it over the RS-R UNLESS you only ever run your car at the track.

So I've been driving around with the RSR Exmag for a few days now on the street. I still haven't got the chance to take it on the freeway. But...........

The Verdict:

SLIGHTLY quieter than the Apex N1 Single with silencer. The exhaust has great "stock" looks. The best way I can describe the exhaust tone is that it sounds "deep and snarly"----like sound getting "ripped and torn" through the air. To be honest, I actually preferred the Apex's tone (deep and smooth).

I can't tell you whether or not the RSR Exmag has better/worse power gains compared to the Apex N1 Single; I was straight-piping earlier, and now I'm running a cat.

Before: Apex N1 Single 3", gutted catAfter: RSR Exmag, Magnaflow 3" high flow cat

If it means anything to you: I now experience about 500rpm more turbo lag which could be entirely the cat's fault.

I was long searching for an RS-R exmag when i was doing my swap. I wanted the sleeper look of course and that would've been the perfect exhaust.

After getting the run around at like 2 different retailers and having to fight for my $500 back, I ended up with the Apexi N1 EVO. It's the new one that's completely stainless. The sound is very clean, deep and smooth and not extremely loud until I get on it. I have a high flow cat, which would keep the noise tame also. Then N1 was also $150 cheaper and has much straighter piping.

In the end, I would've liked to have rs-r to keep the stock look and stay off the police radar, but I'm loving my Apexi.
