I was thinking about putting tv headrest into my g35 and making it so that the 7" dash monitor shows the same thing. I was wonder if something like this would void my infiniti warranty.

If you are going to have a problem with the audio/video/head unit/etc and they can prove it it was playing a part of it, sure it will void your waranty. If you have a problem with the wheels not a chance.

Hold on hold on. Lets think about this before you go ahead with it. I don't really see why you would want to project what's on the dash monitor to the rear seats. To me that's just stupid and a complete waste of time, effort, and money. If I'm sitting in the back with monitors, I wouldn't care what's on that screen, I would want to be entertained. Now if you wanted dual zone capability where people in the back can watch a movie or something while you have your main screen up front, then sure, but you'd have to buy a bunch of other stuff, too.

And why is this a G thing again?

First off, welcome to NICO.

Second, it's not stupid, just different than what most here do with their cars. I would look into seperating the rear seat monitors from the front display. Then you can entertain with different movies.

Cool mod for a show car. But impractical IMHO. I would rather take that $$$ and put it into different mods for my car.

But that's maybe because I am not really an "electronics" kind of guy. To each his own my friend, if you do it, I would like to see pics!

I have a son that I think would benefit from having the moniters in the back. I just want to be able to put an Ipod in the center console and play cartoons or whatever for him. It would be great to see a different show on the dash but I thought that would complicate things a bit and just add more hardware i.e $$$. When my son is not in the car and I just have a front passanger, The dash moniter is all that is really being viewed, so I dont think its stupid.

Its a G thing because ever since I have got this car I have been obsessing over it (plus that title just rings a bell...sue me). Thinking of ways to make it sicker. Im a technology junky so the moniters was the first thing that crossed my mind.

Im already dumping money into my 401k on top of that I save regularly in my personal savings. My G will now get a little pampering with whats left.

Thanks for the feedback.

Are you planning on hacking the in-dash monitor to display a secondary input?

I think the guys are wondering why your son is interested in seeing the Navigation or Fuel Economy screens.

Excuse me if Im confused a bit. Why would he be looking at the fuel economy screen if I have a ipod or dvd player hooked up to it? Im guessing I would be able to achieve what I want easier with a dvd player that can output to the two moniters in the back and use the aux feature in the dash if I wanted to use it up front. Its becoming obvious that I dont know what Im talking about. Any suggestions? I just want the ability to watch from the front or the back without adding a different dash moniter.

Last time I checked, you couldn't watch anything on the dash screen without either being stopped or disabling the safety protocols (which I think is irresponsible).

Is that a law that you cant have in dash video? Or is Infiniti just trying to avoid lawsuit? I was certain that other cars could do this. Are passangers in the front not allowed to watch movies? Thanks for the response.

Now I just reread your post because a tech junky, I feel, would know that. I see that you want the rear monitors to display the movie and the dash monitor to display the same thing...the opposite of what I and others said was stupid earlier. I would imagine that would void your warranty as it is illegal to do so. Federal law is no video up front while the vehicle is not in park.

If you want to do this, you're going to have to spend some $$$ on a DVD player or buy a new headunit with DVD and dual zone capability. Or just wire it so the iPod video out goes only to the back.

I think the law states that the "active" screens have to be behind the driver's head or something along those lines.

Those who do have it up front are doing so illegally.
