Hello,I am new to this forum and I tried to search but I was not able to find anything on this. What Items would you guys change before putting in your SR20?

Did you guys Change these to brand new parts?Engine Mounts?

transmission Mounts?

Which hoses? A/C lines? Does the SR20 use the same lines?

Larger fuel filter?

These are what I plan to changeClutchFlywheelIntercoolerFuel pumpExhaust

I really just want a list of the basics; I know that this list can get longer as you modify the SR20. If I've missed any basic items, please add to the list.

Thank you

I got nismo motor mounts... the only hoses that have to be changed are the heater hoses, other than that, you should probably get new fuel lines, brake booster line, things like that. The slave cylinder is in the same place.

With the A/C, if you have an s13a (91-93), you can use the KA compressor, 3 of the 4 bolts line up. If you have an s13 (89-90), like me, you can't use the KA compressor unless you can have someone make a custom bracket for it, none of the bolts line up. Or you can use the SR20 compressor and modify the A/C hardline, which is what I will end up doing.

Make sure you add a filter kit and a downpipe in with that, personally, I wouldn't recommend doing the flywheel right away, especially if it's going to be daily driven.

I would change the water pump, fuel filter, all accesory belts, plugs, wires, oli, oil filter, transmission flush, clutch, resurface flywheel and while the motor is out I would also do any kind of modifications that will later on when bolted on will be pain in the *** like timing chain, specially if you dont know how many miles the engine has and/or the engine looks dirty, beat up..etc.

This is just what I do when swapping SR20s...I'm lazy and I like to do the work when the motor is out and forget about these things once installed.

take care

Yup, gotta agree with him, I did all that except the timing chain, which I will do later, probably about the same time I do the head gasket. I didn't see you ask what ALL to do, so I didn't mention the above stated.

EDIT: Get the 300ZXTT fuel filter, you'll just have to pull the filter bracket a little farther apart.

If by "wires", you're refering to spark plug wires, the ignition system on an sr is distrubutorless---no wires to replace :)

Yes of course there is wires, but not the conventional spark plug wires, he was refering to.When someone says to me they're replacing the plugs and wires on their engine, the wires I assume they're referring to are the wires between the distributor and the spark plugs, since the sr is distributorless THOSE kind of wires aren't there, right? Why would you have to replace those wires on an sr? Let me know if I'm not thinking straight, it's kinda early in the morning for me :)

i was just being picky and a ball buster : )

Sometimes when motors are pulled there is damage to the fuel rail and coilpack wires because of the way the motor is pulled/shipped/or packed..I know when i got mine there was some damage to the wire, causeing it to fire on 3 cylinders....no need to change usually, just visually inspect before installing motor : )

nah, your A/C compressor will line up 2 or 3 of the 4 bolts. And your P/S pump and lines/resevoir are in the right place.
