I tried to look through the stickies but there seemed to be a bunch more "you might need this or this" then actual facts.

If i want to put an rb25 in to an s14 (KA24DE), what all do I need. I will have engine, transmission, ecu, harness. Do I need a crossmember of some kind, or just a new set of special mounts? Do I need a new radiator? I know I will probably need E-manage, but is there anything else absolutely required, or needs to be done, purchased, or changed to get an RB25 in to an s14? Please answer with facts only if possible, not "I think you might have to do or get this"!

Thanks,Dan

That was for a reference. I got a 20.. i figure its almost the same. Everyone Correct or Add to me.

The basics of getting the motor in is just. Motor & transmission mounts, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Intercooler/Piping/Couplers/ETC, Driveshaft ( I THINK IDK, I think S13's need it, but idk S14 ), Fans, some gauges... thats all I can think. Hopefully someone will add to this.

and why do u need emanage? its a stock motor, the stock ecu will do the job. If u want something, go get a SAFC.

I thought that the rb25/26 were different then 20 as far as mounting goes.

When you say drive shaft, you need the RB drive shaft, or a different one?

About the emanage, Its coming with an upgraded turbo, I am still waiting to hear what one.

things you need to swap rb25 into s14

rb25det motor/ trans/ ecu/ harnessmckinney motor trans mount kitmckinney custom drive shaftwalboro 255lph fuel pump300zx fuel filterwiring servicesome sort of intercooler fmic or smicintercooler pipingsome type of pusher electric fansnew water pumpnew timing belt and tensioner and idler pulliesyou can reuse the clutch if its still in good shape but ill tell you now its not fun dropping an rb25 trans out of a rb25det swapped 240sx ( ive done it 3 times already cause of broken shift fork and clutch problems.

recommend these upgradesnew clutchaluminum radiatorstand alone ecu like power fc or aem(STAY AWAY FROM GREDDY EMANAGE ITS JUNK THEY DONT WORK ON ANY OF THE RB MOTORS WORTH A CRAP)new injectorsetc. etc. etc. it all depends on what you want if you want a bone stock swap go by the first list if you want more power sky is the limit.

you dont need anything from mckinney, you can use the r33 crossmember and mounts, also can have a driveshaft made locally for much cheaper.

Im waiting on a full parts list, but I was told it has a cross member already, so I just need r33 mounts??

also thanks HxC_Nismo! Thats exactly what I was looking for : ) Do I need a Z32 maf also? I think my car has one, it does not look like a normal KA one, but I have never seen a Z32 maf

Heres a pic,

Thanks again : )

O, one last thing, I heard Greddy E-Manage sucked, but not the E-Manage ultimate? It looks like it has a RB plug and play harness.

if that is a pic of your engine bay then its not a Z32 MAF, its a standard S14 MAF..and if you want my opinion you should try to source a power FC for it...they are in my opnion and prob alot of others in here and everywhere else the best thing out there for the money .

ah ok, just checking on the MAF, was not sure, I am used to S13 and it looked different then what I was used to. Didnt know if a prior owner had it swapped already.

Does power FC have a plug and play harness (piggyback) like emanage or is it full stand alone that needs its own sensors and ****?

I have torn down a KAE, and CA to the bone and rebuilt. I know over all mechanics and electronics, I just did not remember what it looked like. This is my first S14 and duel cam KA, and had never seen in person a Z32 maf that I remember, I forget visual details at times.

i have mckinney mounts and driveshaft also. i got them almost 3 years ago. i dont thing syko was even making kits then.

i have AEM EMS, and am running map sensor. id also do the clutch, water pump, and timing belt also. but another thing i didnt see mentioned. your tach will not read correctly. LSauto recalibrated mine. i think something about dakota digital having something you can use also.

Ah, I see. So I dont need a new cluster, just a recalibration?

Heres a question, is it a good idea to get an EMS, but also have SAFC-2. Dont have SAFC-2 actually perform any changes, just use it for the nice readouts and information? Or is there anything better that you can use? I see the SAFC Neo is black with nice screen and displays like 3 different things at once.

IMHO the list that drifting.com posted isnt a good "basic" check list as it has a TON of stuff thats not needed in a rudimentary swap.

to get the engine in and running you need the following:mount kit (xmember or kit)new driveshaft to suit the 25 transuprated fuel pumptiming belt and water pump kitclutch (strongly reccomended)wire harness conversion

that is the BARE minimum to get the swap in and running with no frills, you can use the stock plumbing for the smic as well as the downpipe to connect to your current exhaust.
