Holy s***! If you weren't wearing brown pants when you left home you'd be wearing them when you got back!

The driver in the car wasn't thinking though, he'd have been better off pulling forward instead of stopping to limit his exposure.

An update to the article that I found this in is reporting that the woman driving was having a diabetic attack... :frown:

Dang...youtube is crapping itself pretty bad today. Only the first video in this thread will even load, and it kept hanging on the ad.

I really don't understand how people who live in a state that sees snow from october to june every year can be so oustandingly terrible at driving in the stuff. I realize there's only so much you can do when the roads are really, really slick, but user error still makes things worse.
I'd say 80% of winter-weather accidents around here are caused by terrified people experiencing a combination of overcaution and incompetence and creating unnecessary hazards in already adverse conditions. There was some of that in this very video, like the idiot minivan who just STOPPED on the hill and left people with no alternative but to go around or hit them.

And how do you get tail-happy in an effing Cavalier?!?!?!?!?!?!
And WTF was the deal with the Subaru that ACCELERATED when it started slipping?

All of these people are terrible, and I get to drive to work with them tonight.

'Course the worst driver I've seen all winter was some b**** in a Hyundai with Texas plates a couple days ago. I hope she drives off a cliff and dies.

Utah drivers are horrible all around, but their s*** truly shines in winter.

Oh, and notice that no one has anything in their front yards except grass and, in the case of a couple fed-up folks, big rocks. That's because everyone got sick of their s*** getting taken out by those crummy drivers.

It's like here where I live with barely any snow on the ground.

I went out to fire up the R yesterday, and my neighbor was putting on tire chains. I asked him why, there was barely any snow/ice on the road and he told me he had to. I told him it would be gone by noon. It was.

I took drivers education in the middle of winter in high school, so my first real driving experiences were in snow. Not saying I am the best snow driver in the world, but I understand a little of how physics work when you are in a big heavy car. In days like the original video, I'd just say eff it and stay home. I think most those other people in the video are probably saying that now.

Skip to 1:04. This Impala recovers from a slide very nicely. However, the credit probably goes to the Stabilitrak system rather than the driver.

Its funny that you posted this thread, my car got hit outside my house last week. This lady was rushing her son to the ER (I live down the street from the hospital) and it had be snowing for a few hours, so there was a nice layer of un-plowed un-salted snow on the roads. So her yukon took a bite out of my car lol. She came back the next day and explained everything:

That snow was stupid the other day, wasn't it? Had 495 all fu*ked up for no reason, stupid foreign drivers.

Everyone in and around DC is mostly from somewhere else, so we always get the idiots from anywhere...

Huge pile up on an interstate. Watch for the semi rolling in hot. The trucker is the real talented one. Sure the evo avoided catastrophe but if the trucker would have braked hard the trailer most likely would have went sideways causing more damage. Much of those videos are people not knowing what to do, and being complete retards at improvisation in the face of not knowing what to do. But some of it, like when that Prius slides sideways down a hill, is just s*** street management on the part of the towns and cities. Seriously, guys, if you live above a certain degree of latitude, you should probably budget for some goddamned snowstorms, and maybe watch the weather and MAYBE send out the sanders prior to the first accident.

Had our first freeze in New London, CT, which has notoriously poor street management. Local highway got shut down for about a half hour while they called in a sand truck to dump on the road at 6AM, after an accident had occurred there at 5:30AM. You'd think that this might have been something they wanted to do at around 3:30AM to get the roads prepped for a morning commute.

I live in a state that actually salts/sands roads prior to storms. I think PA is really good about that too (their main roads obviously).
However there have been some years past that I was perplexed why sand wasn't put in key areas prior to morning commutes too. Also our roads are in really good shape compared to other north eastern states (I DREAD driving into PA, Chester Co. is awful). We did have a "fix it" section in the paper where people could submit road problems to Del Dot and they'd actually go and fix it. Not sure if they still have that column though. :gotme

I have snow tires on the Miata and it hasn't snowed significantly yet (of course!!) and the temps keep fluctuating too. I'm guessing we're going to get a huge snow storm in Feb-March.

Whoa! That Evo vid is crazy. If the Flex hadn't taken out the minivan to make a hole, the truck woulda taken out everybody!

I remember this ice storm. I live 15 mins away from Hershey. I sat and looked out my window at the vehicular ice capades.

I saw the evo vid a few days ago when I was browsing youtube for 2 hours looking at icy roads lol. Definantly lucky to escape unscratched especially travelling that fast. I dont understand why people would just stop on an icy/snowy incline for nothing. That breaks the momentum!

I caught this little tidibit from Seattle yesterday

I've got a feeling that the GTR doesn't have the factory optional Blizzaks (and maybe not even the optional Dunlop all-seasons!).

Love all the YT comments about, "Why would you drive either the Audi or the GTR in the snow?" My question is (as long as they were appropriately equipped), "Why would you not?"
