It's not a cold air intake... it's actually a warm air intake.

Now you have Cold RAM Air Intake. Change the filter to Hi-Flow Dirty Engine if you want more air.
Yeah... you didn't read my how-to...

Actually, dyno result _can_ show good hp gains. Look at the NPM article of the NISMO intake they tested on the Altima SE-R, something like 28-peak hp. BUT, if you read the article, they did those numbers with a cool engine. Once it comes up to operating temperatures, they claim "heat soak" and only get 1hp/7.5tq increase per their dyno chart. So, for everyday travel in the vehicle you are pretty much getting a slight tq increase and more sound. That's about it for your $300-400 bux.

Of course, an intake with exhaust would give a better chance for usable gains.

I found a CAI from Cosmo Racing that claims to give a performance gain of about 7HP for about $95. I also found they make a Short Ram Intake that gives about a 5HP gain for about $65. If I don't intend to race my car (either on track or street), which of these Air Intake systems is best-suited for me? Keep in mind that I don't currently have, nor plan on getting, a supercharger or turbo for this car. I have read about, and am afraid of, the potential engine-lock problem that can supposedly be caused by a CAI system sucking too much water from the fender well.

I simply want a slight increase in HP while doing my daily driving. Any recommendation(s) will be greatly appreciated...

Oh, I forgot to mention that my car is Automatic.

I have a Cosmo CAI on my 02 I35 sport. I don't know how much hp I gain. But l like the smoother and quicker throttle response. And it's not as loud as my daughter AEM CAI on her V6 camry. But it sound good on full throttle. And the price is not that bad. I paid $250 for my daughter's AEM CAI and $107 shipped for the Cosmo CAI.Here are installed pics.

Those look to me like the emblem of the back of a 4th gen Max.

I am going to dig up this old thread just to ask if you ordered the one for the 02-03 Maxima and did you have any particular head aches on install?

Thanks!!

Well I was at Formula Drift this year and almost all of the cars had these prefilters on their Intake filters, they shield and repel water from the filter. The guys with the Nissan Titan Motors in their two G35's and Nissan Sylvia did a whole drift event in the rain and their intake filters stick out of the top of the hood.
