Wow, I completely missed the drama, and only hear about this stuff after the guy's been caught.

Wonder what he was pissed about.

I kind of get the impression that he has been battling mental illness. I use to have a Treasury Agent (SS) as a den leader in cub scouts and he told my father the fastest way to get your meds, if you are mentally ill is to threaten the President of the United States. While I dont think that was the motive here, I am sure he will be getting the help that he needs.

Speaking from personal experience, the best way to get meds for mental illness is to call a hotline and speak the words "I don't feel safe."

I'd hazard a guess that the best way to get locked up in a room, waterboarded, and detained indefinitely without due process would be to threaten the President.

Nah. My guess is if your plan was "Shoot at the White House," you're not liable to be treated that seriously as a threat once you've been detained. I automatically assume mental illness when something like this happens, and I think Bud's spot on.
