Found this on the Discovery Channel Website and thought I'd share it with you.

http://www.ouramazingplanet.com/1534-9- ... earth.html

Hunter is right in the middle of all this. He called last week and told us it was 133* in Afghanistan. His description: "it's like being boiled alive". Since the body actually registers any response to temperatures over 113* as pain, I can only imagine what he and the others are going through. As long as he is there, I will not complain about the heat here. :frown: :patriot:

Here are the top 9 hottest places on Earth:

9 - Sudan 127*
8 - Iran - 128*
7 - Israel - 129*
6 - Araouane, Mali - 130*
5 - Timbuktu, Mali - 130.1*
4 - Tunisia - 131*
3 - Ghadames, Lybia - 131*
2 - Death Valley, CA (USA) - 134*
1 - El Azizia, Lybia - 136*

Make sure you check out the thread. I t has a lot of cool information on the different locations and the circumstances around when the records were set.

I wanna see how hot Death Valley is. Like I just wanna experience real heat like that. I think they have running Marathons that run through there. And my question is why...

When I was 23 or 24, I was out working in our yard, and had my Walkman w/headphones on, listening to the radio. They announced it was 122* in Phoenix. :ohno:

It was so hot, they closed Sky Harbor airport. Why? Well, aside from it being hard to land in that kind of heat, the planes were sinking into the softening tarmac. :wtf2:

Thats an awesome fact.

Speaking of AZ, Id rather take a 105 degree day with 15% humidity over a 90 degree day with 95% humidity any day. God I hate DC's swampa$$ summers...

My bro is a chef. In the kitchen the thermometer reaches 130 on the hottest days, that doesnt include the radiant heat of flames over the stove in his face or humidity. Last year the AC blew out too. I mean theres a difference between 100 and 130 like there is a difference between 60 and 90. I really feel sorry for him. Just another reason to leave that horrible place.

I will happily deal with the heat as long as I don't have to shovel snow in the wintertime or deal with a lot of rain. I have A/C. :D

That does make it more bearable for sure. :yesnod

Right now (around 1:10pm in the afternoon), it is 66 deg F outside ... here in San Jose, CA. :)

Most of our company (about 54 people) are heading up this afternoon to Oakland for a baseball game - taking jackets along to the game since it will get cold there this evening!

Unfortunately, I can't go to the game today - need to help wife and son with some shopping for a long vacation trip they are taking on Monday.

What makes it even more bearable is the fact that Prescott is less than 2 hours away and the high there rarely reaches 90*. Two days there can help you catch your breath and reset yourself. You can be outside without it being horrible. They have 5 lakes where you can go and just chill out, hike, relax, fish, etc.

No, meant a frigate, cruiser, or destroyer. Though out of context my sentence does seem a bit...wrong...

That reminds me, I hit up the area of Laughlin, NV for vacation a few days ago & it showed about 120 degrees in my car.
Its litteraly like burning your skin if you walk in the area with no shade
