So it's been forever since I been here. Well in this time managed to drop a valve in the l28 of mine. I want to know the best possible route. I have it apart and I want to rebuild whole motor since it hasn't been done. But I also just wanna go rb25 in it. I'm completely torn. What would be best and cheapest route you think. And also if i rebuild it I wanna go to the 3.1 liter stroke and bore. I just can't seem to find I anywhere. Anybody know of one for sale. Thanks in advance.

Never, under any cirumstances, should "cheap" Ever be applied to an RB.

Ever. IMO they've been hyped by the Nissan and S-chassis community into some obscenity that they're not. They're great motors, but not deserving of the obstinate amount of hype and cost they get.

If you're looking for power on the cheaps, than the 3.1 definately isn't the way to go either. Find an L28ET. Bolts in (pretty much), and they're pretty affordable engines until 300whp give or take.

Just my .02

Rb swaps are not hard or $$$. I swaped a rb20 in my 280z for less than 2000.00 and it was easy. I know the rb25 is alittle more money but it's not expensive as people think. I had a 3.0 liter stroker in mine for about 10 years and spent a ton of money and it was not worth it. My rb20 with a rb25 turbo, nistune, and gtr injectors walks all over that stroker. The stroker had a sweet torque curve but that rb sings at 7800 rpm.

the hardest part of the rb swap is finding the rear sump oil pan but now its not. I have been building the rear sump oil pan for alot of guys over on hybridz.org. When I was doing my swap I could not find a pan to save my life. So I decided to design my own. Check out the link. If anybody needs one just let me know.

Thanks pat. I may be in contact with you when I get cash for my motor swap. Those pans look amazing that you put up on hybridz.

Pat, I am interested in one of your pans and just can't seem to get ahold of you through PM. PM me or send me an email to [email protected]. Looking to do business ASAP.
