Hey everyone it's been a while! I'm at a crossroads in life. Married with 2 kids and one on the way. We've currently got 2 passenger cars and the Baja Beast. One is a leased 2013 altima due back in a month and the other is my Wife's 2007 Camry. IT's time to upgrade and I'm thinking about getting a 2016 Pathy. Does anyone know of common issues with the newer models? My 2001 QX4 has 290,000 on it and still going strong. I might get rid of it or trade in my wife's 2007 Camry and give her the new Pathy. Either way I'm dropping a lot of $$$.

Any advice on the new Pathy's would be awesome.

Thanks!

I don't think that the new Pathfinders have full sized spare tires any more. I think that the 4Runner still does.

As much as I like my 2002 Pathfinder, when it comes time to replace it, I won't be looking at, or buying, a new one.
After reading reviews in car magazines, on line, Consumer Reports, etc, there are better alternatives out there.
The major turn off for me is that transmission.
It also has a poor record for reliability, and Consumers rates it at the very bottom in it's class.

In this class, what looks good? My wife's 2001 QX4 is hanging in there, but it is at an age that it could easily
develop issues at any moment that are too expensive to repair (so are we, but that's another matter ).

New Pathfinders are just Altimas that sit higher. They totally castrated it. But if all you need is a AWD grocery getter that's going to be good for the occasional snow storm then that class of SUV is fine. Nissan's track record with CVT's has been dismal however, I'd look at a highlander or 4runner before getting a new pathfinder.

Highlander and 4runner are definitely my two top runners as well. Honda Pilot is another option, but even though it looks nearly idential to the Highlander, I can't stand its appearance. A bit too "soft" looking.

Unfortunately, I've sat in three 4runners and my head hits the top every time. I love the appearance and capabilities, but just don't fit in it. Looks like I'll be stuck with a Highlander when it's time to retire my '04 in a few years.

If you're looking to buy domestic, I remember reading that the new Jeep Cherokees are doing well. I see loads of them all the time here in the park. However, I have not driven one nor do I know much about them.
