p.s. Look again at the Scion tC. I am seeing them nicely equipped, brand new for $18K. That's sweet, considering all the goodies they have.

That's an underrated car. Period.

LOL...I barely even use the horsepower-robbing AC on my 240SX. Hell, I haven't had the face plate on my CD player for the last 6 months. I just drive the thing.

Anyway, Greg's right about the Scion tC. It's a hell of a lot of car for about $16K. The TRD supercharger sounds like it's gonna rock too. Just not real crazy about the styling.

For some bizarre reason, I really like the looks of the Ford Focus ZX3 (visions of Markko Martin flying over a hill in a Focus WRC...yeah, I know I'm not Markko and we don't get the *good* Focus).

As Greg pointed out, Ford's quality is sometimes a bit frightening (sorry Mr1der). Still, I *know* I can get a 2004 Focus with a 2.3L Duratec for *dirt* cheap by the end of '05, either new or slightly used with the balance of the factory warranty. The engine was developed with Mazda so it's gotta be decent...right? Right?

From what I read of the more expensive Focus SVT, the lack of low end power on the 2.0L Zetec is really noticeable. I kinda like torque, and the SVT's are fairly expensive to insure too.

The only problem I see with picking up a cheap '04 ZX3 is resisting the urge to put some sweet, sweet Cosworth parts on it. They're releasing some heavy duty **** for the Duratec. FWD or not, some Cosworth innards and Focus RS body parts....mmmm.

With the depreciation that you see on a Focus, I could pick up a cheap ZX3 and a little bit of Cosworth magic later...172bhp! You get a "Power by Cosworth" badge too...how cool is that!

Damn you, compulsive need to mod cars!

If the Spec V wasn't so damn ugly, I'd be all over it. Nissan seriously needs to give the Sentra a face lift.

Also, unfortunately the only Nissan dealer in my area really sucks. Terrible service department. It really bums me out. It's actually keeping me from buying a newer Nissan any time in the near future. I keep hoping that a new Nissan dealer will take root somewhere around here.

Like Rousie, and others have mentioned if I was in your shoes expecting to start major projects on the S14. I'd be thinking about a pick-up truck so you could pick up all the cool parts you'll be putting in the 240. Even if your not a truck guy.

You people are so blind! The ultimate daily is right under everyones' noses.

Sentra- B13/B14 SE-R ('98-'99 SE-L) or '00-'01 SE

A couple of bolt ons and they're beautiful dailies. Of course, I have said sickness and I moreover I want to piss of my brother one day when I pwninate his A4 1.8T in a lowly Sentra (I already out handle, underweigh, and out grip him-mmm, lsd)...

Seriously though, the most one of any of those Sentras will cost you is $9k, and that's for a really awesome condition one.

I/E/SS, shocks and springs and maybe a rear sway if you're going all out and you're done!

Or, you can be me. *Disclaimer, skip this part if you really just don't need/care for this info*

I/E/SS/Pulleys/GTI-R exhaust mani/GTI-R turbo/SMIC/reflash ECU/Cobra MAF/boost controller and Koni Yellows, H&R Sports (probably, what do you guys know about Sprint springs? They're listed on the Southwest Autoworks website and seem a good deal, 2in drop and tight), NISMO R/FSB and new front strut, suspension and engine mounts, flywheel, street clutch, Falken Azenzis and some light wheels... but that's only if you want to laugh in the faces of well... everyone... on weekends at AutoXs with it too, but that's what the 240 is for, no?

I will build the faster-than-1.8T-FWD-SR20DET, not to mention outhandling, stopping, and styling the mofo's...[/disclaimer]

Sorry, I digress... I'll go back up and put a disclaimer...

I'm not sure, but that Duratec motor may be used in some of Caterham's Super Seven kits...I know they've used two others...

and the noble used two versions of the V6...

Ford's problem is building the cars around the engines now...and their auto trannies suck monkey sack.

I've heard some fairly impressive things about the Duratec and generous gains from bolt-on mods. Not to mention the healthy support from none other than Cosworth.

The US Focus platform probably has *most* of the bugs worked out of it by now. For once I'm glad Ford decided the US Market wasn't worthy of the new Focus.

Because of the ton of goodies in the Ford Racing catalog, you could, potentially buy a 2003-2004 Focus ZX3 with the 2.3L PZEV Duratec and then slap some Cosworth stuff on there along with some SVT Focus suspenson bits. Spice up the exterior with SVT Focus and Focus RS parts.

I've heard quite a few people say they prefer the extra low end power of the 2.3L engine over the low-torque, high strung Zetec engine in the SVTF.

That is, of course, assuming I'd be modding the car and not just keeping it as a daily driver.

And yeah...I couldn't kill the engine in my old Tempo, no matter how hard I tried. What finally killed that vile car, you might ask?

Automatic transmission finally, mercifully took a ****.

Can you loan me 15K for a few years?

Yeah, the Legacy GT is sweet. I'd buy one of those in a second if I had the money. Hell, I'd be happy with a nice 2.5RS but Subaru vehicles hold too much value. Good if you're selling, bad if you're buying.

Fortunately, I've got some time before I do something. I'm hoping that the 240SX will have to endure only one more PA winter and then I can find a nice warm garage for it. I'll have my student loans paid off next year, so that's an extra $200 that can go towards misc. car stuff.
