Q ecu starts to decrease timing when coolant temp exceeds199.9F. 200F is minus 1 degree and each 5F is another minus 1 untill 5 degrees have been removed.

The ecu wants to see 174-184F for optimum power production!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All aluminum engines are much more sensitive to head temperature.

Since the CAS is driven by exhaust cam any chain stretch will decrease the stock setting..............we ocassionally see 1-1.5 degrees retard from age so one should check and adjust every 60k when plugs are replaced.

Ah, thanks for that post tech!!! I asked about the CAS a while back wondering why it would go out of adj. but now I feels dumb. Also thanks for posting the temp range I should be looking for!

EDIT: Is there a way to check and adjust the CAS without any infiniti tools/harnesses?

Adjustable offset timing light triggered by #1................the problem is the CAS slot allows +- 40 degrees so the exact middle might be off by 15 degrees....................touchy and slow to get exactly 15 BTDC.

The problem with my setup is that with the radiator installed it's impossible to see the timing marks on the cover and balancer. I've been advised to make another mark at 15* on the front of the balancer with a paint pen or something similar, but I can't think of how to extend the timing mark on the cover.
