I know the feeling.

It looks really bad. So your girl is paying this out of her own pocket.

The Altima has no frame!!! It is of a unibody construction. I believe that what they are referring to when they mention the frame is the floor pan, rocker panel or other structural steel panels that make up the underbody of the car

What is unibody construction?

after shopping around for quotes i finally settled with a place in scarborough (you gta ppl will know where that is). does $2700 sound reasonable? I found another place said that they would do it for $1500 which i thought was nuts

I cant tell the full extent of the damage, but that price seems reasonable. THat is one of the worst places to get fixed, simply because it is one huge panel. Not to mention the door is damaged as well. If the shop has a good reputation for good work, I would say do it.

i dont know how car insurance works in Canada but seriously... i would never verbally agree with a stranger to pay for damages to my car... too many variables can you put you in a difficult legal battle

it can turn into a "he said she said" debate.i would have reported it to the local police for a report to be filed2nd had a written statement by the other party that they will without a doubt pay for all damages caused in the outlined areas of the statement, pictures also included and signed by the other party BUT im no legal attorney and dont claim to be one... but see how far this can get if u do it amongst yourselves?

thats why its better to just call that persons insurance company and file a claim against her/him. let the insurance company handle everything, get you into a rental for the auto-body shop time and have your repairs guaranteed.

most people at the time of an accident say "oh ill pay for the damages personally... or please dont file the claim" because they dont have insurance (or it canceled for nonpayment) or they are driving on a suspended license or they dont want it to count against them insurance surcharge-wise or in general. if someone ever tried to solicite me to pay for it outside of insurance... i would tell them "fahhh cue" and get their insurance card and call the police for a report. i have seen too many customers get screwed by the age old "ill pay for it myself" scam.

people assume they know how much it will cost to fix damage or paint a car.. but if they dont work for a bodyshop how do they know?

MikeisSUPERBAD: i agree with you 100%. since this was my first accident i now know what to do no matter who has done the damage.
