My RB20DET project that is. Didnt have much time last night, only got battery out and took off the strut tower bar. Tonight I am cutting the exhaust off and drailing fluids and some other stuff to prepare for the KA removeal on saturday. It will be awhile before anything else major gets done but at least I am finally starting. i'll keep you guys up to date with pics if you want. Here are a couple I snapped last night:

I'll have more pics tonight and tomorrow.

Argh, I want to start my RB20 soon.

BTW, good luck on the swap. I just want to see that car minus that paper weight that is in there now. SOHC KA sucks!

heh, ironicly enough my rb20 s13 was the first engine swap i had ever done....... its not too terribly difficult.but yah make some good progress with the pics, no one likes to see a stock engine bay the without airbox then without fan......... kinda pointless, should be engine --> no engine --> rb.good luck tho, common sense makes life easier.

Be sure you know about your power steering situation before you get to deep... 89-90's need to be converted. Don't forget to pull the fins out of your HICAS part of your PS pump as well... common overlooked things...

Good luck bud

take the opportunity to scrub down the engine bay and get it lookin purty. The install will look soo much nicer in a clean engine comprtment.

I started on that yesterday acually. I think I am gonna paint the engine bay silver, I would do black but the other 240s that are silver have black engine bays, so I want to try to so something a little different haha. Unless someone has another color that might be cool I am gonna go with silver.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the HICAS only come on 91-93 240sx's.

You won't be using a PS pump from a 240 anyway... so it should be pretty clear I ment the PS pump on your RB motor. You will need to convert your lines though. I think SSC has a writeup on this in their project S13 stuff (moving the PS lines)... if I recall.

Well heres what I got done this weekend (been busy working full time and school full time). Finally got around to cleaning and painting the engine bay. I used High Temp Aluminum paint. Turned out a little shinier than I thought it would but I think it looks pretty decent.

before cleaning

almost done cleaning

after a couple coats of paint

I used a power steering pump from a 86-88 nissan maxima. Just had to grind off part of the RB pump bracket. I have not ran the lines yet, but It looks like its going to work great.
