Spring break!!! I freaking made it! all those teachers making me sit in class today can go to hell!

Anyway, the engine comes out tomorrow. I will have it on a stand and apart by Sunday, and will post thousands of pictures. Lets find out why this sumb**** is leaking oil, right?

Drunk welding will follow on Monday with any luck.

I feel sorry for that engine . You more than likely have multiple leaks. You'll get it fixed and this I do know, but I truly am afraid of the method you'll use .

I know there are multiple leaks. Front main, and I have reason to believe the oil pressure sender for my Autometer gauge is leaking too. Yay! Oh, and my steering rack leaks oil out the ends, but thats a different story altogether.

duct tape and super glue.......... he used to use gorilla glue, but he was upset that they used his likeness for their bottes without prior approval.

I hate you. Probably right though.

So I have actually not yet started working on it, for two reasons:

1. Its cold and rainy and it sucks outside.

2. It didn't make the trip last night. My EGTs went upwards of 1900 degrees F and you can probably guess the rest. Pics will follow at the beginning of the week!

I can confirm the safety of his OG status.

Tim: I'm sorry if your engine bay is a little sticky... it happens =/

So far so good, it only took my dad and I four hours (minus lunch and having to pick up and assemble the engine hoist) to get the car from a running and driving state to having the engine on the bench in the workshop.

Pictures of the engine removal will be posted just as soon as I can find the damn cable for the camera.

Not really much to write about so far. Removal of the engine on these cars is easy as hell. If you can't figure it out you probably should not be considering doing this kind of work yourself.

Don't know, probably nothing. I was really watching my gauges and let off the gas as soon as my EGT alarm went off. I drove it back to school (10 min, no biggie) at 30mph and drove it back yesterday with no issues.

Bad news though, my HG is leaking oil at the back under the #4 exhaust port....again, which means my block is way out. Its going to the machine shop and my car is going to be out of comission for a while. Probably going back together with some 84mm CPs.

I'll post up pics of the day's progress as soon as I finish eating dinner.

MAKE SURE you do the head AND the block Tim. These blocks like to warp back there a little and seep oil. Mine was doing it too when I took it apart.

Also, if you strip that last bolt hold on the head for the exhaust manifold, and you drill it out and helicoil it, put a bunch of RTV on the threads of the helicoil because you'll cut into the wall of and oil passage. Guess how I know about that one?

Ok sorry it took so long, my computer doesn't want to connect to the internet at my house. Awesome, I know.

My dad and I hard at work.

Note dings in quarter panel.

Assembling the engine hoist. Check out my huge ram. Looking is free, but touching will cost ya, ladies. Note the blue gloves, the bomb.com when working on the car.

Engine somewhat taken apart. No accessories or anything. My dad was hauling a** removing stuff under the hood. He took out some built up aggression against the failboat coolant expansion tank by hurling it into the sun.

Turbo. Yay. I wish it said "TD06SH-20G" on it though. One day, one day.

Forgot to remove shifter before dropping the engine. Uuum, I would try to remember to do this. Ruined a shift boot but it was worth it for a good laugh. Getting the massive cir clip off the shifter was a huge pain. I think it was hands down the hardest thing we have done so far.

Oil leaking from back of head gasket. Block has to be out a whole bunch. Super awesome.

Crank trigger mount setup. Take notes if you want, you know its baller. The holes in the top are necessary for the screws on the top plate, that the trigger mounts to, to mount correctly.

Underside of the intake manifold. So clean! No leaks this side, well, except for the oil filter mount and the front of the head gasket.

Rear main seal was definitely leaking like crazy. This is a small fraction of the oil that I ruined the workshop floor with today. It was definitely time for the engine to come out.

My sweet clutch. A little worn but she's good to go. Kayaba RS550 if you are interested. Probably impossible to find now, just go buy you a Cusco.

Remember to label all those nuts and bolts kids!! I didn't have ziploc bags, so I used sammich bags. If someone accidentally bumps them over I am totally f***ed.

This is where I got to today. I would have pulled it all apart but I wanted to get the go-ahead from the parents before I officially took over the workshop with my busted-a** car. I got it and will tear it down tomorrow. The whole front of the engine was covered in oil. It was pretty graphic material, viewer discretion was advised.

So far I have found oil leaking from the cam seals, rear main, front main, oil pan, head gasket, and oil pressure sender. Sweet!

Big pile of parts.

I dominated this engine guys (and girl), I had it out and in the workshop in about four hours, and then stripped down to a bare longblock in another 3. Wasn't working on it full time today though as I was helping a buddy swap the engine mounts in his WRX. I imagine if no loitering was done, it could be pulled and disassembled in two or three hours, but that's just unnecessary.

Ive got to go to Regal Nissan tomorrow and order about fifty different gaskets and seals.

Harbor Freight engine hoist? That looks like great fun, good luck with it I need to get over there and have a look at the mayhem...

PS: I touched that beast before this began, and let me tell you... it was good.

So I've got a few things I need to sell, or rather, have no use for. Here's what I've got:

Stock rebuilt CA t25, with build sheet. Zero shaft play, it was/is my backup, but the GT28 has been reliable enough, and I can't imagine going back to the t25. $150 obo.

Brand new SSAC o2 housing. Never used it because it doesn't clear the steering column with the stock manifold. $50 shipped

FET auto turbo timer w/ s13 harness. Plug and play. No need to use it b/c I have a water cooled turbo. $50 shipped

Various sensors and stuff from on and around the intake manifold: Sensors and butterfly valve actuator: $5/ea + s&h, or $10 for the TB.

Stock coilpack cover. I have the bolts too, but will have to locate them before I can in good conscience ship it out. $30 shipped. (Anything else in that box is fair game too, just ask).

Stock clutch fan. Kinda cumbersome so shipping might be a few dollars. $20 and I'll see about shipping.

Ive also got a few stock cams, two intake for sure, maybe an exhaust cam, I'll have to look. $30/ea for those.

Oh, and I would probably be willing to part with my z32 MAF + HKS bellmouth filter adapter. Great shape. I think I paid $100 for the MAF and $40 for the adapter, so say $120 shipped with connecter and pigtail. You can see it in the pics in my previous post.

Bwahaha hilarious.

Okay, so the block needs to go to the machine shop, but the machine shop doesn't deal with import engines. How flat does it need to be? 1 micron? I need to give these people exact numbers so they can't screw it up.

So I went and plastigauged the head/block mating surface and found out that it is out a MAX of < 2 thou. It leaks like crazy though! Even with a stock HG. My head bolts were torqued down nice and tight. Any ideas?

The FSM specifies it cannot be out more than .0039, and I am way under that.

I'm going back out there to check some more stuff, and I shall return.
