looking good! take care of the wiring first. bench test your new harness and run it through the firewall while the engine bay is empty

Well, i my friend at our shop convinced me to send my harness of to the Wiring Specialties guys, becuase they do a good job, so i sent a KA harness off and my RB harness and had them wire both of them together so that next time if we do a swap for a customer we can just use the diagram from the harness i have to do the wiring ourselves.

Also, what is the recommended fluid for the SII large RB25 Transmission?

i'm using 80/90 lucas oil in mine. factory recommended is somewhere close to that... 75/90 or 85/90? sean from rbmotoring swears by redline shockproof heavy, but i think thats a bit too thick for the winter. if you've ever seen the stuff, its basically a gel when temps are low. you can't even squeeze it through the bottle into a tube to fill.

i'll prolly switch to some heavier stuff come spring time.. thinking about shockproof light

Right now, im waiting for the harness to come in and my uncle is making a machined throttle body adapter for use of the stock throttlebody on the greddy intake manifold, and i've also got to source out a exhuast manifold gasket and get a broken stud out of my RB25's head. There are two of them that were broken clean off into the head.

On the lighter note, i've got the transmission mounted for the driveshaft lenght which is 42 inches, and the stick sits about 2-3 inches further, but the shifter only has 3 inches of throw. Which is alot better than the KA's shift throw which is almost 5-6 inches. I stripped the dash and console out for finding all my buzzes and squeaks and also started wiring up all my gauges. I would have pics, but my pic stic loader isnt working right now so ill see what i can do... Progress is moving though, im hoping the motor will be in by this weekend.

There is still some cutting to do on the top part of the mouth so that more air is flowed through, but its all coming together.

I've got the tires and wood blocks holding up the transmission for the time being becuase i wanted to get my driveshaft length before i got the motor on so i'd have it in time.

This isn't an easy question to answer but how much mechanical 'know-how' did you have going into this project? Ever done a motor swap before? Do you work on cars regularly? Have you run into anything completely unexpected yet?

I've done a few swaps before, but never an RB, the only unexpected thing i've ran into so far is i forgot about how far up the shifter lever sits up that threw me off but then i remembered that was normal. There hasnt really been anything that's surprised me or caught me off guard.

I do work on cars on an almost daily basis, i work for GM as a luby, its doesnt take alot mechanical know how, but i know my way around 240's and just about every nissan for that matter.

Most specifically Z31's, Z32's and S13/14 are the main cars i've spent my time on. Once you know those you really know "most" any nissan. I think the only motor i havent worked on thats nissan american is the VH45 or any of the V8 motors and the GA16D/E.

It really is a nice swap..............Just curious, but how much money have you spent in that swap so far and how much money do you expect to have spent when it is finished???Do you also have any estimated power levels that you think it will reach?

I dont even want to add up the money cost, haha.

For my power goal, ill just be satisfied to have it running and be at 250-260 whp on 7psi.

Later this spring ill tune it and get some larger injectors and some fuel control, and have it up around 300 whp, but i want a tuning curve and i want to see it at as stock as possible, right now im running a stock motor with bolt ons.

FMICIntake manifold3inch from the test pipe back, 3inch dp ( not to be used yet ) IntakeAjd FPR Power Enterprise Kevlar timing belt and a few other misc things i cant remember.

I can relate with that, looking at the money ive spent on the swap i even did myself.. thinks to self, i could be rocking a 400whp KA with the money i just spent, but you know, the shear sound, and something different makes it all worth it, i wouldnt have it any other way. o.O wait till you fire her up man, no joke one fcking amazing feeling.

I've been waiting for that feeling for sooooo long. IF my wiring harness freaking comes in tommaro as well as my fuel pump, IT should be done this weekend, and i cant freakin wait.
