It all happened randomly, after washing my J30.

I washed my J30 today at one of those manual car washes and after finishing up and starting my car the engine was making a whining noise, and when I shifted out of P into D there was grinding. I haven't been having any transmission issues. It shifts just fine and my fluid isn't low. I was right up the street so I drove it home, cut if off and it shifted just fine and the engine was running smooth again. Oh and get this, my windshield wipers wouldn't come on after I started it at the carwash. But when I got home and restarted it the wipers worked and no more whining or grinding while shifting. I'm thinking maybe something got wet, but what.

i would say you got something wet most likely a fuse or connector causing something to freak out then suddenly work. my car tends to do that sometimes and it doesnt happen long enough for me to find it and i cant figure it out either but recently it went away and hasnt happened since so hoping it stays working for now on.

thanks. that's definitely a relief, replacing a transmission is the last thing i need right now. Im gonna be extra careful the next time I wash it.

Try to replicate the situation then check all the fuses in that case. Check the service manual to see how the wipers and transmission have any correlation with each other. I would also check to see how the wiring for the transmission is run as well as the wipers.
