Has anyone ever looked at the turbochargers on the NPR diesels? I know the IC's are popular but I was looking at the turbo on one and it looks like it might be decently sized.. although I think the motor is like a 3.9 so it may be frickin huge, heh. Anyway if anyone knows specs or has a rough idea of the size (or better yet, has used one before) then let me know. Thanks.

And yes i searched. :\

The turbo's used on Deisels are usually to large for smaller CC engines. Since the CR is so high on the deisel, they don't suffer from much lag. I'd really need some specs to say anything different.

ditto.

About the intercooler, usually Diesel intercoolers aren't nearly as effective as a good aftermarket fmic. Do it right the first time, besides, one can easily find a decent front mount for under $400, why people spend so much on HKS and others is beyond me.

I was looking at an NPR the other day and the turbo actually looked small... T3 maybe. But then, I wasn't really paying much attention, my eyes where on the cooler.

WD I'm thinking you are right, it is a pretty good sized motor (albeit a 4 cylinder). Still worth a look though.

As far as the IC, I probably won't end up using it, but I'm considering it since I'm getting it for free (can't go wrong there).

Thanks for the replies. :)

the npr intercooler has been proven to be much more efficient than most oem intercoolers for turbocharged gasoline engines.

Demetrius, that's kind of what I thought but I didn't wanna say anything because I wasn't sure. Isn't it considered one of the better "junkyard" IC's? Hmm..

And again.. for free I don't think I can go wrong. :P

According to Paul (movingviolation240) the NPR is one of the best...several other reviews/test of them I've seen would support that assumption.

Free is the best price...lol. Slap it on and see if she does what you need. If not, sell it and buy a different one.

There was a page somewhere on the net (don't have my favorites with me) that made some comparisons between several ICs. The main test where pressure drop and air flow. The NPR IC was in the top three alongside the Supra IC and above the Starion IC.

If you decide not to use it...I'll take it. :-p

But in response to your question, back when I was hanging with the DSM crowd, there were a few murmurs about taking the turbo wheels from a Mitsubishi Fuso truck, and putting it into a ported T25.

Don't know if anything ever came of it.
