So, I was rereading through the two different writeups on how to wire an rb20det into the s13 chassis for verification when rewiring my rb.

I noticed there is a problem that was never addressed in either of the guides.

1. the cold start wire for easier starts

2. the IACV (the one near the fuel rail) wire hookup.

just saying because most fresh swapped rb20 problems are idle and starting.

As in the idle sucks cuz the iacv power wire is not getting power and needs to be hooked to a hot in run source.

And hard to start, because the the start wire is not wired to pin 43 allowing the ecu to flatten fuel maps.

Did I miss something in the guides?

the cold start wire comes from the dash plug wiring. If i remember right is a orange wire but you better check before hooking up. I used some vice grips to hold down the clutch switch and then while starting the car i check to see which wire had power an then made sure it didnt have power at any other time. As far as the idle valve bolted by the fuel rail is not needed, at least on mine.

i thought so too, but it stabilized my idle like no joke. and my timing is now correct with my cas in the middle. '

but yes the orange dash plug wire goes to pin43

Man, my car start rough every now and then, usually takes 3 times to get it started. I might need to check the connection on that orange wire, solder might have broken when I put the harness in!
