I'm finalizing my swap right now (waiting on a recirculation BOV) (91 240sx w/ blacktop s13 sr20det), and I've got 2 problems

the engine is running horribly; i took it for a drive and when i punched the gas it almost immediately fouled out the plugs, its acting almost like is flooding (smokes alot, spitting, no power at all, trying to stall, etc.)

also, i have no boost pressure at all. the turbo sounds like its spooling (at least trying to), but the pressure gauge says nothing (the gauge is good, i already tested it). could taking the car out w/o all the vaccum lines connected properly (theyre connected now though, minus bov) have f***ed up the turbo or wastegate actuator, and could that be why it's running so rich (no pressure=plenty of gas and spark, not enough air?)?

What are you using for a bypass valve right now? Stock?

Make sure you don't have any boost leaks.

not sure which one the bypass valve is, but this is where i'm at

when i bought the engine the company i bought it from apparently forgot a few parts (eai control solenoid, boost pressure control solenoid and recirculation valve). I ran a line from the eai to a charged air source, bought a manual boost controller and i'm waiting on a recirculating blow off valve, everything else is stock.

come to think of it, there is one potential boost leak (the vaccum line that'll run to the recirculator), but is one vaccum line enough to bleed out all the pressure? aside from that there aren't any leaks i've been able to find

The bypass valve is another name for a recirculated blow off valve.

You actually kept the EAI system? That usually gets deleted on most setups. In the stock setup, it gets a manifold vac source to run.

The boost leaks I'd be concerned about are loose charge piping connectors. In the past, I've used a tool that caps off the intake system and pressurizes it with compressed air. Right at about 5 psi of pressure is when most leaks start to become present.

The only other thing I can tell you to do is to make sure your wastegate actuator is hooked up to the wastegate flapper and to check for shaft play on the turbo.

sttart with the basics, make sure all your fittings are tight, easy way to lose boost right?but it sounds like your not gettin enough air in, not that im an expert--but check to make sure nothings loose--especially the vacuum line
