First post, but I've been lurking around for awhile and love this forum. I've run into a issue after replacing the belts on my 2000 pathy, mainly I think is the spacers for the idler pulleys I believe I may have them in the wrong order or something since I took them off and for the life of me I can't remember what order they went in to go back on.

Can anyone tell me the order of the washers/dustcovers for both of the pulleys since I took both of them off? I put them back on but when starting the vehicle it squeals like a stuck pig so I quickly turned it back off. I've never had this much trouble with replacing belts before I suppose it was my time. Also when changing the belts do you tighten the tensioner first and then secure the pulley via the nut?

Thanks for all the help!

I did not take my bolts out when changing the belts, just loosed them. However, yes, you tighten the tensioner first, and then the bolt through the pulley, that locks down the adjustment.

They do need to be tight. It's also recommended to adjust the tension after running the engine for 5+ minutes. I still had mine too loose, and they chirped when I started the engine. After a final adjustment it's all quiet. With a 1/4" socket wrench (shorter than 3/8") it's tight to the point where more would mean putting my shoulder into it.
