My motor is basically stock, just 3in exhaust, front mount, 255 walbro, adjustable FPR. It runs perfect till about 10-12psi, then all hell breaks loose. I am running my waste gate line off of intake pressure so the waste gate should be opening ~12psi. It just backfires and misses like all hell when it hits this point. I tried switching from iridium plugs to coppers, this made it run a little better down low but i'm still having this problem up top. My plugs are gapped within spec, but on the tight side as I thought I was blowing out my spark with the boost, but It still does this. My fuel pressure is also within spec. Its frustrating cuz it runs perfect up until this point. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I think we need to start a counter on how many times this gets asked in a week.

Coilpacks. Look for the thread on "the great coilpack debate" or something like that. Read. Do.

I really don't think its the coil packs, I should have stated this earlier, but every once in a while ill do a pull and it runs all the way to redline, it also seems to not be as bad if I ease into the gas. The motor set is fresh and the coil packs aren't cracked or damaged or corroded. If I just mash it, it just back fires like all hell. And as for plugs, I took that suggestion while doing some research on here, and it imporved the problem but its still very apparent, with the iridium's it would conk out at like 6psi. Now it just ****s out when it hits max boost and the waste gate is supposed to open. Is there some kind of sensor that could be getting a bad reading and not letting it rev out?

I had the exact word for word problem you had.

You can take our help or not, use flexane on your coilpacks and be happy, or not and be pissed off because your car runs like michael j fox playing jenga.

Electricity doesnt need a visible crack in material to jump to a ground source.

Electricity is lazy, it will find the nearest place to ground it can before it builds up an insane amount of resistance in your secondary coil on the coil pack.

High voltage low amps causes problems like that.

Ok so I took everyones advice and pulled my coil packs. I realized that the black paint chipping off of the metal coil was what was probably causing the problem. I coated them with POR15 since I have had great results with that stuff adhering to anything. I let them dry and put them back in. Now im not getting the miss fire I was before but it is getting fuel cuts like a mofo, meaning ill stomp on it and itll start to go then cut out for a second then start to go and keep doing that. Any ideas on this? Still the coil packs or another issue you think?

You have to coat the coils with something resistant to electricity like flexane as stated before.

You just painted them.

I suspect same problem, or boost leak.

Are you still on the stock ECU? Just curious.
