(not too sure what happened with that last post... please disregard!)i have a 93 j30 that has recently gone nutty, and i am clueless as to what the problem is. i do know from running a check that i do have a bum oxygen sensor, and am just babying it until i can get the parts. but recently there have been a couple of things starting to act up. one is that from time to time the car will almost stall out and lose power, but them quickly recover. i don't know how to describe it other than it's almost like bunny hopping or something. it's almost like it's out of gas, though it's not. it seems to be worse with the wet weather, though could just be coincidence. another weird one that i noticed yesterday is that coming from somewhere around the dash is a noise just like the turn signal is on, but it's not. ??? i am also looking for someone in the kansas city area that would be interested in assisting with questions and such i have with this car. i have this problem that every time i open the hood for my 'motorhead' friends, they laugh. one is a bmw cert mech., and the other builds nissan race cars, and they are of no help! i have ran across some posts before from a gentleman in lawrence kansas, and was curious if he would be interested in checking out my car. i have never owned an infiniti before, so i don't even know how they're supposed to run!any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!many thanks!!callie

Sounds like your fuel pump and/or sending unit is close to toast. I don't quite understand the last part of your email, why would the BMW tech and Nissan tech laugh? Perhaps you should post a picture of your engine bay? A well maintained J30 should run smoothly and quietly.

I agree with driver.. First check your fuel pump, and then maybe it sounds as if your MAF is going bad... More common problem on the Q though...If it starts hard and has problems restarting, I would look more into the pump. IMHO it sounds kinda like the MAF to me. Sounds like what the Q would do, when it would start "bucking". Is it when the car is underway or at a stop?

If you hear an audible or muffled humming coming from around the rear wheel well area, backseat or trunk, it will confirm you need a new fuel pump.
