Well my Rogue has been having some issues recently. About two weeks ago the drivers side door handle broke...the mechanism inside the door broke for some reason, making so I could not get into the drivers side from the outside. I just figured it was a freak thing because of the cold here in the Northeast. I got it fixed at the dealer about two weeks ago, then today it happens again. Also today the car started making a metallic grinding noise when going into reverse. On top of that, the steering wheel creaks when you make a turn and the gas gauge doesn't work properly.I'm a pretty reasonable guy, but I don't have time to keep taking my Rogue in every couple of weeks for stupid things that shouldn't be breaking.Anyone think there is a chance that I could have my Rogue swapped out for an '09 model or something...this is just getting really annoying.

Sounds like some serious issues here. Check out your 'lemon laws'. Work with the local dealer at first. If the issue can't be resolved locally, Nissan NA would be your next level. According to the forums, they are usually very responsive. The BBB would be your next contact. Hope it doesn't have to go that far. Remember to document, document, document! This means dates and times of all contacts with Nissan reps. Names, positions and their responses to the best of your memory. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! It's called a paper/email track. Good luck.

I have work and class tomorrow, but I'm going to make an appointment for Tuesday at the dealer. Another thing I noticed is the exhaust piping is quite rusty for a brand new vehicle. I wash it once a week using the under-carriage wash option, so it's not my doing...the salt doesn't sit on it longer enough for it to rust.I'll make sure to keep track of all my correspondence with the dealer etc. Thanks for the heads up on that!

About noise and vibration while changing gears : I too have experienced similar issue and have been to dealership. As expected they "did not find any issue with it".

I have noticed that I hear the noise only when outside temperature is less than 70 F. When I drive in afternoon, I do not hear noise. Also when I am lead footed noise level is high.

I am planning to take my rogue to atleast two other dealerships and then contact Nissan NA and then BBB as necessary. If they still do not listen, my lawyer will make them listen to me.

All I can say that metal vibration that you having in reverse mode might be the heat shield got loose. I had this problem fixed at the dealership and other person on this forum had exactly the same issue. When I started the car I heard the vibration also.

Check your "Lemon Law" statue before jumping on that wagon. Here in VA you have to give them four chances to fix the problem. Documentation is the most important part of it all. I did my services via email and made them document my concerns correctly at the service department. When I picked up the vehicle they had to address each concern independently; Not just saying the vehicle was running fine at time of delivery or some other stupid bull$hit. It's a pain in the a$$ but you have to work through the system to get any satisfaction. The BBB is an excellent process from what I have read and would encourage you to utilize that source. Good luck and don't give up. It took Nissan 8 months to change my transmission.

Well I can't see why the dealer won't just correct/fix all of those issues in one trip, two trips max, and then you should be on your way to years of trouble-free driving.

Most Rogues have very good initital quality, other than an early CVT issue and subsequent CVT replacement, and the same squeeking steering wheel that you have, mine has been very reliable. It seems you got more than your fair share of bad parts, but it shouldn't be anything to worry about long-term, as the dealer should easily be able to fix all of this under warranty. The dealers usually jump on warranty work, as it doesn't cost them anything, rather it makes them money because the manufacturer pays them for their labor and supplies the parts, my dealer actually admitted that they try hard to find warranty items for this reason, and that Nissan never gives them any hassles about approving the work. So I'd recommend just giving them another chance to take care of these things, as a side note the fix for my squeeking stearing wheel was a new "spiral cable" and a whole new steering wheel. As for the transmission noises, just them take care of it and if things don't pan out and they don't fix the problems, then yes I agree with you that it's time to look at other options. Also, I agree that it is a pain to take the vehicle in for warranty work and then to drive around nervous all the time listening for strange noises because you've lost confidence in the vehicle and are expecting something new to go wrong every day. I was like that for a while, but the bottom line is all manufacturers have to perform warranty work, even the high-end manufacturers like Lexus, Infiniti, BMW vehicles will have this, although less frequently than say Dodge, for example. All you can do is work with your service department, document everything, and give them really detailed reports of the problem so they can take care of it. Good luck.

They took care of the door handle for me, the head tech guy fixed it this time. He said it was not hooked back up properly the first time it was fixed. They ran codes on the gas gauge issue and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I just filled up today and it is still having issues. I have my first oil change due soon, so I'm just going to make sure I fill it up on the way to the dealership to show them what the issue is. They said they fixed the steering wheel noise by pulling the wheel off and lubing it, it seems to have worked. Finally, I think the noise I was hearing was just my disc brake scraping slightly from moisture as it happened after the car had been sitting for a whole day, they check it also and said there was nothing wrong with it.Overall they were pretty apologetic about it and told me to bring it back right away if anything else comes up.

So the lesson learned here is to remain calm when you think you're having problems with your car and DON"T OVER-REACT! I'm guilty of this myself, and in the end the dealer fixed everything and things are great. That is why you get the manufactuter warranty. Just relax, and the warranty will take care of you, this is normal stuff and all manufacturers suffer form this.

I know man, it's just really tough not to when you have a *brand new* rig and you have a decent monthly payment on it. I really like my Rogue overall, it's been great for me so far...hopefully this is the end of my issues with my rig. Thanks for the help and advice everyone!

Well, I had the same door handle issue happen to me today. The dealer fixed it within an hour and all was good. I can't complain as this is the first visit I had for something other than regular service. My Rogue is 1 yr old this week and has 28,000mi (45,000)km.
