Issues after replacing thermostat

Just replaced the thermostat on a 2002 Sentra. I noticed when I took the radiator hose off there was a bit of corrosion from what I assume is a few months of leaking coolant on the inlet pipe to the water pump. after replacing everything, there is coolant pushing through the hose at the inlet pipe. What is the best way to clean the inlet pipe of that corrosion so that the hose seals proper? I am going to replace the hose due to its age as well.
